Default Veilside front lip received CRACKED!

I got my veilside front lip delivered and it was cracked. (see pic) I contacted MVP motorsports who I ordered it from and they said they had it shipped directly from Veilside so it's not their fault. I contacted Veilside and they said they are not responsible for damage during shipping. The shipping company said the damage is from poor packaging since the outer box isn't damaged. They also said since I signed for it I accepted the contents and the condition it's in. I am filing a claim with the shipping company and Checking with Veilside again but what a headache.

Can this type of chip be filled without it falling apart later. Any other suggestions? I'll keep you all informed of what develops.

sux to hear...veilside says shipper's fault, shipper says bad packaging...for Veilside, it might've been in their interest to rectify the matter as quickly as possible without this coming out to almost 16,000 members of this board as well as the lurkers about the apparent brittleness of the frp lip (especially if the box was apparently not damaged)...imagine how it will behave under normal driving circumstances. If anything they should examine their packaging standards. I hate fiberglass...over time it always cracks from wind deflection from driving...or hit a curb and the fat lady sings.

Well.... since I have got my veilside carbon fibre front lip.... and I can tell you that I had a bit of chipping to at that parts where attach to both ends of the front bar. But my crack wasn't as HUGE as yours, so those were pretty easy to fix up with some epoxy resin. To my point of view, VS lip should be VERY easy to crack at these 2 points because the fitting is REALLY REALLY tight! and it is really hard to put the lip on to the car "withou" getting that cracked! But if you haven't put it on yet and found the crack, you should ask VS distributor to give you the total refund at this stage or even ask the VS distributor to fix it up for you for free!

All the best!

cheers,

richie

Sorry to hear zh.guitar about your problems. Hopefully, you paid with your credit card as you can always call your Financial Institution and file a claim, i.e. recover the $. If you ordered from MVP motorsports, you don't have to worry who they got it from and how they did it, nor should you contact the shipping company, they have to resolve this issue and if they are not able to, then file a claim and get your money back. We live in a country where consumer rights are protected, especially if a business is not willing to cooperate. It is not a good business strategy for MVP to brush people off, if they are representing Veilside, they should be responsible for customer satisfaction.

Thanks for the info. Should I give them a few days to resolve it or contact my credit card bank immediately? I think that they will take care of this matter. We'll see.

Just spoke with Dave at MVP Motorsports where I ordered the frontlip. He has been dealing with Veilside and trying his best to help me. So far it looks like things will turn out ok. I will have to wait and see the results of Veilside's "inquisition". I will keep you all informed.

Hmm, tell them that they already lost one person's business, mine. I like that front lip, but if they don't take care of their customers and if the lip is easily cracked, I'll have to look elsewhere.

You have 60 days from purchase to put it into dispute with your credit card. I advise you do this if the time hasn't run out. If everything works out, you can drop the dispute, but if it gets delayed beyond 60 days and nothing happens, you are screwed. I've had to do this a couple times, and the merchant has always worked it out, and not even known that I started the dispute process. Its for your own protection, and only takes a phone call.

I'm confused, I thought Veilside was high quality stuff? If it can be chipped, that tells me the carbon fiber front lip is just "carbon fiber look", so is that the case? If it were real carbon fiber it would be a lot tougher than that, and wouldn't brake off in a chunk like that.

The one I got is FRP. I thought they were supposed to be strong too. I am concerned about the overall stability. Overall it looks to be high quality. I can't tell you if it fits well because I still don't have my car yet. Someone else here has one and said it fits perfect. Maybe I got a defective one.

carbon fiber is strong only if it's built in honey comb and is dry carbon (not pretty). It will shatter though...look at F1 cars, they are strong but they do break easily.
I would strongly suggest against any carbon undertray like the one that comes on Top Secret bumper. Once you break it...might as well throw it away, you can't repair it. i'm pretty sure the undertray will be shattered in no time on street roads. (sorry not trying to go off subject by mentioning Top Secret, just used it as an example)

Unfortunatly in shipping, sometimes things break in transit. It's a PITA for everyone from the manufacturer, the dealer, and the end user. From what I know of MVP you are in good hands.

I assure you that we are on top of this and we will get this problem resolved. I've already had your name put on the next front lip that arrives at Veilside (call Veilside if you'd like to verify). I can understand being weary of internet companies that rip people off, but you can go to SupraForums and read that we are a reputable company that is known for our superb customer service. We have been in business since '99 and are not a fly-by-night company. Anyone is welcome to visit our 17,000 sq.ft. facility in Fort Worth, Texas at any time.

We did discuss fixing the front lip, but I feel that you paid for a new part and that's what you should receive. I will keep you informed of any new news via phone.

In regards to the Veilside lip, this lip (as with any Veilside product) is the absolute highest quality piece you can purchase. It was broken in transit to zh.guitar because of the freight company. The freight company could have done any number of things that caused the piece to break, that doesn't mean the Veilside product is inferior. MVP is proud to say we are the largest Veilside distributor in the nation as we know their products are the best available.

According to zh.guitar and the pictures he sent me of the box, the freight company severely damaged this piece in transit. No fiberglass body piece could be expected to withstand the impact this piece took. The fact that this lip is still in one piece and has only 1 small chip is a testimony to the quality. Veilside wraps the entire piece with bubble wrap and tapes it down to the side of box. Here's a link to the pic.

To Speedmon and MVP motorsports.

Thanks for the letter of support. It is the company that stands behind it's customers that is standing in the end. I chose HRE because of quality and customer service. That is also why I chose MVP and Veilside. I am optomistic that all will turn out well.

By the way Speedmon I was not aware that the lip was taped down to the inside of the box. When I opened the box it was not restrained at all an the wrap was off the corned. Note in the pic that there are black streaks on the white lip. This fact HIGHLY suggests that it was handled rather roughly by the shipper. Had I know it should have been taped down I would have reported that fact.

thanks,

zhguitar

We sell the fiberglass front lip for $345.60 + shipping. I'm going to be adding the 350Z to our website and I'll hopefully have the section done next week. Thanks for the inquiry.

It has now been over 5 weeks. The Overnite delivery company sent me a check for 128.00. They did not claim fault just as a way to help since they were one of the handlers of the package. I have not cashed it yet. I still have not heard from Veilside. Veilside said since "Overnite" sent me a check for 458.00 they considered it resolved. WTF! it was 128 not 458. I smell a rat. Well the plot thickens. I talked to Dave at MVP motorsports and he said he would call Veilside and straighten it out and call me back. He hasn't called yet. This is a pain in the
