My DB is barely more than a year old and the paint chips are like the stars in the sky...I couldnt count them all if I tried...Even the roof has chips...Worst paint on a car Ive ever owned...My old black Ford Probe GT looked better than my Z does and I had the Probe for 6 years....Something is seriously wrong with Nissan paint.....

My paint is so effed. I got friends with Black EVO, WRX's, M3's and the paint on their car looks so clean compared to mine. I wash my car every week yet i still got ish all over it. We should all get a lil memo and email Nissan NA. This is horrible.

After frequenting NASIOC (suby forums) for a long time, I've seen them complain about paint quality quite a bit as well. Seems like alot of companies are using sub-par paint...the EPA regulations for paint formula would make sense. Ditto on the paint chipping...getting new bumper next week, and have to touch up a few spots on the car as well. Argh.

My bumper is covered with chips as well, but worse than that is the acid rain/etchings in the hood and roof, can't see then in normal daylight but under lights they look terrible. Dealer had to get the car for me from out of state, and apparantly the other dealer left it outside in the summer. I have tried a porter cable random orbital buffer on it, need to do it again and step up to a more abrasive pad and maybe more abrasive polish. I am going to get them out though, even if I remove more clearcoat, drives me crazy.

HAHA wow reading this is sad and my car is fuc**ng amazing because I have around 20 rock chips total everywhere... and the touch-up paint sucks, or at least I suck at putting it on... I have chips all over my front bumper, hood, and some on the doors that make me cry when I see it...

My car is about to hit 7k miles and like someone said before, my front end has more chips that a chips ahoy cookie...

Not just Nissans (own a 05 Z), my wife's 07 Camry and my 07 Civic is the same. Super thin paint that chips easily. Seems like the trend for cost cutting or conforming to new pollution standards for paint.

I just dont understand how that is polluting?? I mean **** paint is staying on the car if you apply extra coats.. If you apply only a few light coats then that is definately pollution because all them chips will be going in your nose some day..

It is the process of spray painting that releases the chemicals that pollute. Some of these chemicals (which were essential for durable paint) have since been banned by the EPA, so manufacturers are having to make-do without.

As a result, the quality of automotive paint has suffered.

Every year or two just break out a grand and have it repainted and blended. It's worth it to keep this beautiful car looking great.

+10,000 on this whole thread. Nissan paint FTL, and I have an 03 so just use your imagination. Good thing I'm on my third body kit and I've replaced a lot of stuff with CF parts so those areas look nice...

I have an '03 with zero paint chips, dents or scratches. But then again, I don't even have 40k miles on it yet (bought it new) and keep it in a climate controlled garage with 2 hepa filters and 2 ionic breezes, never drive it in nasty weather or park next to anyone with a cheaper car and never touch it with anything other than a microfiber cloth.

I treat my cars like pets. That is why, whenever I decide to sell one, all my car-enthusiast friends line up and fight likes it's the last cup at a keg party.
