Nissan Paint is horrendous
Is it me or is the clear coat on Nissan paint 9 kinds of horrible? I have worked with various car mfg paints over the years and I have to say Nissan's is by far the worst in durability and overall quality.
Even when doing everything properly with regard to washing and drying you will still end up with clear coat scratches. It is extremely unforgiving.

just wait a couple more years, then you'll be disgusted by the amount of rock chips that have gathered on the hood/bumper. Its depressing... i'm tempted to try to pull a "warranty" clause on the paint. (if possible?)

My 06' DB after 1 year, 16k miles with only about 15% of that highway miles looks like crap! I've also got two small chips above the windshield that are down to the metal and I now have to touch them up, after I remove the rust. Other rock scrapes along the side of the car, and a one or two on the doors. It's just sad!
This paint is by far worse than any car I've had in the past!

I had an '03 Spec V a few years back that was horrible with the paint chipping. I made a warranty claim based on the chips and the fact that the plastic/polymer parts of the car (door handles, wing) were fading. Nissan refused to do anything and stated the chips were normal wear and tear. I pointed out that the paint was not chipping, it was literally lifting away from the primer. Still no luck so I traded the car in on a new WRX.
My '06 Lemans Sunset has a little over 6k on it and I am dealing with rock chips on the front bumper. I really hoped that this car would not do like its cheaper and older little brother but it seems like it has. Too bad Nissan turns its back on things like this.

Might acutally try that, I'm opening up a tint/clearshield shop so I definately have the resources for it.

I gotta bring it in this week to get the whole frontend repainted
Clear bra on the whole car would be cool, no worries over someone keying it, and just wipe it down with a wet cloth to clean it.

I've got some chips on my front bumper that i'm not happy about. And i got a real bad one on my roof that i had touched up by a shop.
I wonder if Infiniti's have this problem too? I would hope for the extra money spent they atleast get better paint.

I have 40k on my SB, and when you go to a body shop and you get the whole shop to come out and look at the swiss cheese condition it's in, and then get the whole shop to say DAMN practically at the same time.....tis impressive. I have a ding in every surface except the rear bumper. DA WELL, cars damn fun to drive.

Got you all beat! My 06 DB with under 6k miles has too many chips on the bumper to count, 6 on the hood two very deep ones on the leading edge of the left fender, two on the DOOR, and one on the c pillar right behind the quarter glass. All from rocks! Around here, when a road gets bad they just lay down tar, then come through with a truck that sprays gravel down and just leave it. It's up to the traffic to drive in the gravel, but the loose stuff stays around for over a year
edit: oh, forgot the 3 scratches on the A-pillar from God-knows-what, and the $1200 dollars worth of damage caused in heavy traffic when the car in front of me kicked up a wooden board... and the fact the car was delivered to me looking like somebody washed it with steel wool...

3/2004 Super Black
Painted front bumper twice, hood once.
A friend of mine said I should use urethane paint for the metal and epoxy for the plastic (instead of the stock base coat clear coat). Is this true ?????
