I say do it......think of a crash....you want more reinforcement to hang on!

 

Ok, since I do have a BCR bar installed. Perhaps my input will get you guys a better product in the end. The tie-rods are to prevent the bar from rotating forward in the event of a crash. Because the bar was designed to maintiain full reclining if you so choose to; the bar is offset of the primary mounting points (upper seat belt bolts). But this in-turn gives leverage on the bar and could rotate it.

The other thing to keep in concideration is the seat belt helper on the 05+. The BCR was not designed with these in mind. As it stands I had to remove the adjustabllity of the seat belt helpers to provide clearance on both sides, to install the bar.

As for finishes, the BCR is powder coated.

I'm not a BCR "fan boy" by any means, I hope Tech can create a far superior version that will suit everyone of all years, at a lower price point.

 

My goal is to make a good product with a lower cost. Since it seems that most want the rear struts, then that's the way that I will go about the design. This will ultimately add more to the cost. I have no idea of cost yet, so don't even ask. I like elements of all the bars out there so far, but none are perfect IMO.

Since I am using an 03 for the design, I can't really go about designing around the other years. I am assuming that those with the seat belt holders on the newer years aren't as worried about having them if they are putting a harness bar in the car, but that's just me. I know the Sparco bar will still work with the seat belt holders in the newer cars, so I will take that into consideration. Please be patient (although I already know that Jon is itching for this). Hopefully I will have the design model narrowed down by end of next week.

 

I would be interested also, I think it would be cool to incorporate a way to attach a camera to the bar. It seems like a good spot to hold a camera, I don't really know though because I haven't seen a harness bar in person.

I just hope it lives up to mine and everyone else's expectations. I'm not really worried about being able to make it, more worried about the cost...but we shall see.

 

^^^^ Well I'm going to buy it just b/c it is from you, i could care less what the cost is. As long as it isn't 500 bucks or looks really cheap. But I'm not worried, just excited to see it done, I'm sure it is going to come out great.

Just an FYI color wise...I plan to offer them painted with the color of your choice. The catch to that is that it has to be a color made. Asking for Top Secret gold or Takata green isn't going to happen unless you can provide the paint mixture info.

 

crap...not only do you have to ask to use Top Secret gold...it is like a lung and a liver per pint. I might just go with a matte black...would you be able to powder coat for durability?

 

i guess any shade of gold, bronze, flat black or even just bare metal would do the trick. i'm looking more for an affordable solution so if paint is driving the price up, than i can worry about that down the road after i get it. for right now, i just need the harness bar.

 

I really don't have a source for powdercoating or I'd use it as an option.

 

I can offer unpainted as well if people are interested. I don't know what affect it will have on price yet though.
