Removal/Replacing of side mirrors.....
Anybody have a how-to or the steps involved.
I need to replace my side mirrors tomorrow and wanted to get an idea of what's involved. Do I need to take the door panel off, etc......
Yes, I searched.......maybe would've had better luck as a PM.

behind the door opener (silver one next to the AC vent) is a plastic cover, remove that and a 10mm bolt is in the hole there
where the window control box, there is a rubber cover in the hand hold, remove that and it's a phillips screw
passenger side you have to pop the cover off the door handle and there are two screws there remove those, then the silver door opener clip, and then the phillips screw next to the window control
door plastic trim, push up and forward (toward the front of the car) for the clips to release (they are orange and hold the plastic to the metal frame, and then you can get to the three 10mm bolts holding the side mirrors to the door, unclip the motor to the side view mirros and tape off to prevent moisture.
i think that's it.. oh yea. if you have a friend to hold the plastic piece when you're getting it off the door its a good idea cuz its kinda heavy and there are wires clipped to the inside of it (i.e your window control box)
installing the CF mirrors are we?

^ you got me confused and ive done it b4
i dont know anything about those orange clips you mention.
for driver side: Like he said but theres also another 10mm bolt behind the switch panel cover. You remove the cover after you unscrew the phillips head scew and the pop it up from the rear and pull out. Theres is also a 10mm bolt behind the door handle. Pull the handle like youre opening the door and then remove the plastic pringles shaped piece. See the bolt and remove it as well.
Youll have to unclip the window swtiches as well. Once out you ll see the 10mm bolt that was originally hidden, remove it. I then work from the bottom pulling on the door panel and getting all the pop fasteners to come out. Youll have to lift the top edge of the panel off.
Once you have the panel off the door, youll see its connected to the door handle. You can remove the cables or take the whole assembly off with 6 phillips screws.
In the upper area, youll see the black triangle with the tweeter. It just pulls out. Disconnect any obvious harnesses to the mirror or speaker. You should now see 3 gold colored 10mm bolts. Undo those and the mirror assembly is free.
repeat on the passenger side noting the two bolts in the handle and one in the door handle.
If you want to disassemble the mirror assembly thats another 30 mins and a pita.

removal of mirror and crap is a pita! Heres a brief write up.
First, put a couple of towels on the work surface to pad the mirror from scratches.
Gotta remove the mirror to get to the innards. Cover the bottom edge of the mirror cover in painters tape. Push the top part of the mirror all the way in so that the lower part raises up and you get a peek inside. One each side of the mirror(l and r) there a plastic groove. Its white plastic with a slot. Stick a flat screw driver in the slot and rotate. It should pop the mirror out of the clip. Repeat for both sides. Now lift the mirror up like a box lid and then pull it out of the top slots. The mirror may have a sticky adhesive on the back. You should also be able to remove the defrost leads off the mirror with some pliers.
Now with the mirror out you get to see the innards. You have to undo three brass colored screws to get the first part of the assembly out. Once removed youll see a grey and a purple plug on the back. They are like a wall plug but more fragile. With a small phillips head pop those out.
Next you need to remove the silver screws from the outside of the cover. Also remove the black cover on the underside and any screws that are under it.
In order to get the innards out you have to dissasemble the plug. It should have 5 leads on it irrc, its the one that connects inside the door panel and came out with the mirror. On the plug, take off the plastic piece that hold the leads/wires into the plug. Take note out the layout of the wires first. Using a small screwdriver you stick it in the plug btw each channel and pop each lead outta its hole. With all 5 leads out youll be good to go.
Back to the mirror. On the inside remove any remaining screws that are holding the assembly in(2?). With all the screws out, feed the 5 wires and the innards out of the mirror cover through the mirror opening. Sucks, but thats the only way to do it.
