Thumbs up Switch out 03 headlights to 06 headlights?

I just purchased an 03 350z, and want to change out the headlights with the 06/07 style headlights. Are the wiring harnesses the same? Is any any modifications required to install the new headlights? I've searched for info on this, but couldnt find any. Thanks.

This is for non-HID

Link

Your HID lights may be plug and play though. There have been many threads on the subject here.

If you have 03-05 HIDS it's plug in play for the 06s. You will have to take your front bumper off because there are two screws on each light that are covered by the bumper cover. It's pretty easy:

1) Pop off the 6 plastic tabs on under the hood
2) Take off the 10 bolts on the bottom.
3) Turn your wheel to each side and pull the plastic piece over the wheel aside and undo the 3 bolts inside.

The cover should come off. Each light is held on by 4 bolts. Take them off and unbolt the harness. Install the 06 lights and put everything back in reverse order.

You are in a perfect position to call Dan at MrZipps. Most people are hesitant to send their headlights off and have their Z down for a little while. Call Dan and see about having him do his thing to some new '07's and send them to you already done. Then you just swap them out, and it is plug-n-play.

Since you have an '03, the turn signals will remain lit, but they will blink whenever you signal a turn. If you cut the blue wire leading to the unit, the light will remain OFF, but still blink when you signal a turn.

This is also a great chance to upgrade to 6000k units.

Dan did the following to mine:

1. Cleared the light diffusers/reflectors
2. Painted Housing (custom Porsche color)
3. Swap parking lights for LED's to better match HID headlights
4. Swap OEM projectors to 6000k units

Then I added the AUT eyelids and swapped the turn signal bulbs out for "Stealth Bulbs" from Intense. Since I cut the blue wire going to the unit, I can put whatever bulb I wish into that socket, and it will light only when I signal a turn:
