Carrying mountain bike in/on 350Z
I was wondering whether anyone knows about any bike rack that I can attached to my 350Z to carry my mountain bike. The only one I found was this:

but it is too expensive. Does anyone know if they can fit a bike in the small boot by taking the wheel off? Any help is much appreciated.

if you can't afford the rack, you certainly won't be able to afford the dings your Z will get from the mountainbike or going cheap on a rack. Have a buddy drive the bikes. You're not riding alone are you?

I suggest installing a trailer hitch and buying a bike rack. This setup will be more secure and will not scratch your Z. Here is a link on the trailer hitch that I bought to tow my trailer (race tires) to the track:

Saris makes a couple rear racks that fit the z:
http://www.saris.com/
I use the Sentinel 3. Cost was about $60. It sits on the bottom of the hatch and on the license plate. You also need to get two additional straps to replace the original z-hook straps to attach through the top of the hatch. They're also made by Saris and called Hatch Holder. They were about $12.

Want to know something funny? Sort of OT, but I saw a blue Lamborghini Gallardo with a bike rack on the 405 this morning. Just thought I'd add my two cents. Who even makes a bike rack for a Gallardo?

I bought a trunk rack from "Allen Racks" (Dicks Sporting Goods, $40). I have a 50+lb Downhill bike, and drove 220 miles total with it strapped down nice and tight, no problems. The bike never touched the car. Make sure of 2 things:
1. the trunk straps are long enough, Z has a long trunk lid.
2. windex the trunk lid and rack feet before each application, shifting will cause swirls and scratches if they are dirty.
Another option I thought of is (for long distance, solo driving) remove fork, wheels, bars, seat/post, and load everything into large strong soft duffle bag, place in passenger seat or load into trunk and ride on!
