Default Custom Professional Paint jobs...

How much do they run around? Since the 08 will only be introducing another red color and not lime green I am thinking its time to go aftermarket. So how much does a professionaly done custom paint job cost? It has to be Show-car quality.

Thanks again.

a few grand. It really depends on what kind of paint and how hard it is to spray. Red is the more expensive color.

what color are you looking for? It really depends on WHO is painting your car. So you have to ask your body shop. I'm sure one of your friends can refer you to a reputable shop.

to do it correctly its VERY labor intensive. theres three ways to do it as far as i see.
1. paint outside not inside door jambs or under hood.....GHETTO
2. paint outside and door jambs etc. but mask off areas that really wont be seen like behind panels, hidden areas of engine bay etc.
3. gut everything practically and repaint the entire car. extreme money tho.

i suggest 2, i did that to my last civic to paint it ferrari black, and its really personal judgement where to mask off so some might not agree, but i work at a body shop and did it myself.

also, red isnt THAT much more expensive, yes its more money but not a huge amount. the real difference is if its 1-2-3 stage paint, one is like a gloss paint, has clear coat in it, 2 is your typical paint like our cars has, basecoat color then clear coat, 3 is like on a pearl white caddy, basecoat color, pearl coat, then clear coat. 1 and 2 are easy, matching the pearl depth all around the car isnt that easy.

Your looking at 8-10k for a good paintjob with the labor included. It's not cheap but imo it is a great investment over the quality of paint on them already.

Good paintjob will cost atleast 3000. My previous show car, cost a good bit. What you want is atleast is the 2 stage paint. Stage one has clear mixed in the paint. Stage 2 is when they spray color coat and then another clear coat.
Get it recleared twice for show quailty shine. Wetsanding/colorsanding is a must if you want no orange peel. You will be paying a bit more as well since wetsanding is labor work.

if you just want the exterior, it might be around3- 5K (with labor and good paint)

but, if you want to go "***** out," it'd be about 10K+ (which means you're pulling out the motor to paint the engine bay....yadda yadda yadda)

if you're not showing, i'd just go with option A.

With what? Spray paint? I feel sorry for anyone who pays $2000 for a paintjob.

People who never had a professional one need not reply.

Even with a hook up, i can't see someone doing all that labor for that amount of money. I know i woudln't. Body shop and painters do major labor work. I'm not going to break my back doing a full all over paint job and jambs(not under engine) for less than 3k with decent paint.
