Exclamation Driver's seat butt aches...

Anybody have problems with the bottom seat bolster, especially the left side? I'm 6'4" 198lbs. not a BIG butt. My butt/left thigh gets sore. I just got the car two weeks ago... out of a Benz (nice seats). So I'm wondering if it's just clutchitous (haven't driven a stick since 1998 w/ my 5.0 stang) or what. I tried adjusting it all different ways.....gonna try a thin seat cushion next.....any help?

Probably your left leg getting used to the clutch.

your just getting sore from the clutch. samet thing happened to me when i first started driving a clutch along time ago. it will take about a month or so to get used to it. try moving your seat closer makes pushin the clutch a little easier

losing weight is too hard, plus I don't need to, thanks for the input though, NOTTT!!! It's easier to chop up the seat of I saw somebody on here that swapped G35 seats into his Z.... change the logo and bammmm, plush seats?

I have leather seats and some minor scuffs are showing through as orange. Any ideas on how to fix this?

1. Don't respond to BJX, you'll just encourage him; he tries to jerk everybody's chain;

2. You can have a wide pelvis, even if you're not overweight. The seat doesn't bother some fat folks at all (my theory is that they've got a little extra natural padding of their own, lol!). OTOH, we had one very large guy here who weighed way over 300, and was on his third seat. Just speaking for myself w/middle-aged spread stats (6', 225 lbs.), the bottom bolsters have always seemed too firm to me, and I can tell a BIG difference when I have in (or take out) my checkbook and wallet, and when I wear thicker pants versus thinner ones.

I vote for the thin seat cushion for long drives. It lifts you above the narrowest part of the bolsters, and if you're just cruising in a straight line, you don't really need the bolsters. http://www.drivingcomfort.com/index.cfm?fa=c&cid=106

The only time I get sore is on long trips and it is always with the right foot or leg. They don't get stretched being on the gas pedal. I've never had the left side get sore.

Possibilities:
Maybe you are not using the dead pedal when not actually shifting? Having your left foot on the clutch pedal is riding the clutch, even if you are not depressing it. Your leg doesn't get a rest unless you put weight on the pedal....not good for the clutch. It is an easy subconscious habit to get into.

Are you left handed? Left handers usually keep their wallets in their left rear pocket. If full of receipts(bills would be better), it could be thick enough to create pressure on nerves when using the clutch a lot.

BTW, at 6'4" is your seat pushed all the way back? My left leg would cramp up too if it was always bent, even when clutch is totally depressed.

I'd wait awhile before I jumped to a different seat. If the reason is the clutch use, a different seat may be a waste of time and money.
Congrats on the Z.

You can get a cane and attach one of those foot shaped gas pedals to the end. Then using your left hand hold the cane against the clutch pedal to depress and release the pedal when shifting.

Here's an item on ebay, the pedal

And here you can find a cane you like
