Default ventilated hood

Hi all! I have a question. If you get a ventilated hood, u know these hood with some sort of ventilation. Wouldn't it leak water when raining and damage the engine and all that? Just a thought. Thanks!

If the ventilated hood doesn't have rain guard, then wouldn't it be a problem is water goes into the air intake pipe?

Engine nowadays can take water going in the engine. It's not a big problem if water goes in the vents. Don't worry about hydro locking or anything of that sort.

If anything, it will just get your engine bay dirty. I know several people with vented hoods and they've had no issues during rainy days. You literally have to submerge your intake in water for it to actually become an issue. Some aftermarket intakes even relocate their filter directly in the front bumper area with no issues so I wouldn't worry.

Sorry, but this thread reminded me of the episode where home makes "speed holes" on his hood using a mining pick. My boss was wondering what I was laughing at so I had to close my internet explorer down.

I'm looking into the nismo vents and would rather be safe than sorry... (Portland rain is a no-no) is there anyway to shimmy some sort of mcguiver like rainguard together or is there a how to to catch the water under the vents and drain em to the side?

Rain won't harm anything unless it's dumping right on top of your air filter, which, I don't think any of the vented hoods will...

I live in florida and have driven mine MANY times in heavy storms with no issues whatsoever.
