Default Unbelievable, found rust on door edge... is it covered under warranty?

I was doing the full detail to my car today when I noticed a small amount of surface browning, which i assume is rust on the door edge. I know that rust is a cancer that spreads, so Im pretty pissed. Would that be covered under the factory warranty? I have an 04 enth. If it would be, how does the warranty body repair work process work? Do I take it to the best local body shop? Does it have to be from the original dealer? Any help is good help, Thanks. I have added pictures.

The only way rust could form is if something happened to remove the clearcoat and paint, ie: wear and tear. Which is not going to be covered under warranty .

Its in a spot in which wear and tear has to occur just by closing your door though. regardless of warranty, does anyone know how they would fix something like this? Cost by any chance?

At times like this, it's ALWAYS helpful to consult with your Warranty Manual:

CORROSION COVERAGE (PERFORATION
FROM CORROSION)
Any body sheet metal panel supplied by Nissan found to
have developed perforation (rust-through) due to corrosion
in normal use is covered for 60 months, regardless of
mileage, except for those items listed under “WHAT IS
NOT COVERED”. No additional rust proofing applications
are required. Perforation is a condition in which any body
sheet metal panel has corroded from one surface through
to another.

WHAT IS COVERED
Nissan warrants to the first retail purchaser (“Original
Repairing Vehicle Owner”), that Nissan will either repair or
replace the Genuine Nissan Outer Sheet Metal Panels you
install or have installed on your Nissan vehicle should the
purchased panels develop inside out rust-through corrosion
perforation. Replacement sheet metal panels must be
installed on vehicles owned and operated in the United
States and Canada. Nissan warrants to the Original Repairing
Vehicle Owner that the replacement and refinishing
of panels will be carried out at no cost to the Original
Repairing Vehicle Owner subject to the exclusions listed.

WHAT IS NOT COVERED
This warranty becomes void when damage results from:
1. Accidents, collision, faulty installation, or any alteration
to the panel, panels, or vehicle that could be reasonably
expected to affect the performance of the covered
panels.
2. Environmental pollution or conditions, including acid
rain, hail, or lightning.
3. Vehicle neglect, abuse, or use of the vehicle for unintended
purposes.
4. Stone chips, scratches, or other paint damage that
lead to surface rust damage.

5. Cleaning and polishing agents, chemicals, and solvents,
including improper undercoating or use of other
rust prevention materials.

The way I read it, no, it's not covered.

Hey I have the same problem!

I purchased my vehicle brand new from a Nissan dealership back in 05.. I just noticed surface browning similar to yours along the door panel on both sides.

to the OP I sent you a PM, I'm actually going to speak to my nissan dealership when I go in to service later on this week.

If it's in an area where the paint has chipped, simply clean away the surface rust with a glass fiber brush or small wire brush, clean the area well and touch it up. Not a big deal. I doubt it has gotten to the point where the metal has pitted orr the rust has progressed under adjacent painted surface. This is why you need to keep on top of chips and such and keep them touched up.

Just to be clear.. I believe that the rust is forming underneath the clear coat

My car has never been involved in any accidents, bought brand new, and there are zero rock chips in the area affected.. the rust or discoloration is forming underneath the clear coat.

This is obviously something that Nissan needs to at least look into as it seems more of a paint defect than normal wear and tear.

I'll get some pictures of the discoloration on my car soon

Hmm, in that case, it should indeed be covered, then.
