I've been considering doing thse lately, but am not sure how they'd look...

I like the placement of the ones above, but I'm afraid the black pin would just ruin the look of the hood. What do you think?

That's a hard one to answer. The reason why it's hard is because there is no other contrasting black area on your hood.

My plan for next year is to paint my VT hood but leaving all the vent areas CF, that way the black hood pins have some other contrasting dark colours to go with it. Here is an example of what I mean:

*The guy above bought a Fiberglass hood and painted it black and blue.
**Notice he painted the hood pins... but I don't know how he is going to paint his screws...

That's a bit too busy for me. If I do do it, I'll probably just paint them to match the hood.

Maybe you can ask him since I haven't seen any pictures of his car after that post.

Dang, hood popping up while driving must have been scary as hell. At least you didn't wreck, could have been worse.

I just did this..

That's well and all, but I don't think you should be worrying about the latch breaking. I think it is the latch and it's plate that will separate from the fiberglass that you should worry about.

From my understanding:
OEM Hood: The metal latch that is at the bottom side of your hood is pretty much wielded to the aluminum hood. That is a pretty strong bond.

After-market Hood: The metal latch can't be wielded into the bottom fiberglass material, hence it isn't a strong bond. the latch plate is just sorta "inbedded" into the fiberglass. I think you get the picture of what can happen...

So when the latch stays on to the bottom hook while the the top of the hood is ripped away, how are those cable going to help when they are just going to keep the latch in place while the top goes flying back?

Do the Seibon hoods have a cut out area for the hood pins or do you have to manually cut them yourself? What does installing the hood pins entail?

Im not sure, Ive never seen one. I mean honestly, Im a body guy myself. ( 4 year degree) and Im not sure I would want to take this on. It took my body shop almost a whole day to figure out the angle, the slope of the hood, they had to bend the actual pins, make brakets, cut some of my radiator support. Its a rediculously clean install. Just a pain in the *** apparently.
