my ghetto hoodpin (pic)
I've been reluctant to use hood pins for many reasons...most don't look that well and can be a PITA to use. I like the aerosnyc style, but don't want huge holes in my hood. I randomly thought of this idea and decided what the hell, it can only help....
After spending some $$ on a custom paint job for my latest hood, and a few high speed runs, I noticed my hood would sometimes "float" despite everything being tightened down. Not good for confidence.
Anyways, I bought this cable and drilled a hidden hole into the chassis of the car, and attached a quick release clip that clips onto the hood latch. They use these cables to support tailgates on pickups, it's strong as hell. It's ghetto, but it's better than nothing.

Would have to see pics, but it seems like this is only going to prevent the hood from completely opening. The hood may still break in the middle and flying into the windshield.
If the latch gives at high speeds, the hood will fly up and the cables will hopefully hold, but at that point youve got alot of wind going under the hood which could cause failure.
IMO, go real hood pins. There rigid and hold the hood down/closed. Cables will let it open, not good.
