Default Droped a penny in the hand brake slot

Yesterday I accidentally dropped a penny into the hand brake opening slot, I wonder who else has had it happened to them?

Here is the serious question, do I need to do something about it?

LOL; it's fine. Drop in a quarter and your seat will vibrate for 3 min.

lol i usually leave my earring in the change cubby, and when i take it out, sometimes it'll slip from my fingers and fall into the handbrake slot, so i think i've lost like 5 earrings. sigh. and maybe about 2 dollars in quarters ... and some crumbs ... god i dont know what's down there =(

Since no one is actually answering your serious question, I will take a shot at it. Having removed the console cover recently on my car, the piece underneath the slot is the (hand brake) lever assembly. Generally, you won't be messing up much for dropping something small like that inside the console. If you start to notice some unusual resistance when raising and lowering the hand brake though, that is a sign that the debris is fouling the lever mechanism, and you should remove the console to clear the debris. To get the console freed takes removing the shifter ****, shifter surround (ahead of the console cover), followed by five screws that hole the console cover in. Search the forums for already posted instructions.

Thanks Chinaclipper!
I do not notice any difference on the hand brake yet, hope I never will.
