Talking Moonroof!???

From the Motor Trend Article

the G35 Coupe will be available this fall with a dual sliding glass moonroof, aero package with side skirts and rear wing, Brembo brake package, Premium package, and Winter package with heated seats and mirrors. While the car can be generously equipped, the G35 Coupe will base price near $28,000 when it goes on sale - right in 350Z territory

I read that just today as well... kinda bothered me, I don't know why. I thought about it a bit longer, and it was nothing.

I think the 350z's styling is better though, and it's going to have more horses. The 350z is more of a purist sports car, whereas the Infiniti will be a sports touring coupe.

I prefer the 350zx... moonroof or not.

i'm not too sure about this, it may be speculation. no wait, it definitely is.

with a hatchback body style, i'm not sure if the Z has enough roof area to even have a sunroof. one thing i noticed at the NYC auto show was that the roof of the car is really small; this is even noticeable in pictures of the car.

on the other hand, the G35c is a coupe and not a hatchback; its roof is a little bit bigger and might better accommodate a sunroof.

could the Z even fit a sunroof and still maintain its structural integrity? i'm not even sure. this is just speculation. just like everything else that we all are posting because we have no actual information. heh.

Who needs a moonroof ? When nissan releases that convertable , what more could one ask for ? This comment is based on an assumption ie. assuming it is a cool hardtop convertable . ( Like the Lexus GS430 )

I REALLY want to see a sunroof, or T-top prefferably, on the 350z. I'm not sure if structural integrity is a problem if they use the same frame/whatever as the upcoming convertible. The T-tops would be cool if they curved with the roofline. By looking at the picture at the top of this forum it looks like there is plenty of room for one of those sunroofs that pops up and slides back over the rear of the roof.

I like these ideas better than the convertible because I have a feeling the convertible may not look as good as the coupe.

A sliding ragtop might be interesting too like the one nissan is putting on the frontier pickup.

My previous 300Z had T tops. I did not use them too much. I would probably have the top down more. I also do not prefer a rag top because of noise when it is up. Still, I do love that 350z.

I haven't owned a vehicle with a T-top but I agree with you it seems like more hassle than pushing a button or folding down the top. However, the nice thing about the T-top is it really opens up the top without the added expense of losing the Z's already precious cargo space when a convertible top is used.

actually it's the SC430, and that thing looks like a whale compared to the Z.

What do you think about Nissan making a targa verison like the Porsche 911. The whole roof is a piece of glass.

Default Targa or sunroof

My current car has a sunroof which i never open so i would not care if there was a sunroof on the Z or not. My preference is not!
However, years ago i owned an NX 2000, which had the T type room and i thought it was great. So if they released a Z with that kind of roof, i would seriously consider it.

Thumbs down

My personal experience is that I find the T-top option very nice to have. On my way home from work on a sunny afternoon, while waiting at a stop light, will pop off the left T-top and enjoy the sun and freah air. They are very convenient, easy to remove, and with the tops on, the car is very quiet (unlike a convertable). Another advantage is that you know someone can't knife the soft top to gain entry.

a t-top would be awesome, but quite frankly, i don't see myself using it too much, even if i live in sunny so cal. too much of a hassle to take the roof pieces out and everything

I'm in Northern Indiana, and I'm having this problem: Get the coupe now then trade it in for the new one or just wait for the convertible/t-top in a year or more from now which is what I really want. I just don't want to wait that long to drive this beauty!

Moonroofs are .

I hope the 350z will have this option someday. Believe it or not, the moonroof is one of the remaining reasons of a slowly diminishing list of reasons why I'm still keeping my current car.

I would prefer the Targa style top to the Convertible and the Sunroof. You have the advantage of open air, and the structural advantage of the Glass rear winshield. I couldn't see a Targa style top adding much additional weight.

Just waiting for my Borla cat-back and I'd be at full BPU (I/DP/E). Also have a rear strut tower brace by Road Race Engineering (www.roadraceengineering.com) and "firm" engine mounts.

I ran a 15.8@86.xxx (if I remember correctly) bone stock. A 15.4@88.xxx with the AEM Cold Air Intake. Both roughly 90+ degrees and about ~65% humidity. Not exactly ideal track conditions.

Track newbie then, greatly improved my launches and shifting since.

I haven't had a chance to run again at the track since. I'm anxious to know what I'm running now since my downpipe, am looking at high 14's.
