This can't be. You don't mount a wing with just tape. Usually you use hardware and tape together. I would highly recommend against what your wanting to do. Unless there's something I don't know. Please inform me.

OEM spoiler should be ok with just 3m tape, if it has enough surface on all 4 sides... i installed a blitz replica with " just tape " so far so good.... if it would fly off on the highway though... i'd kick myself in the face

That's what I worry about. High speed runs. I know the tape is strong, but I don't know.

the best tape you can use for this would be the Black 3M foam tape. Most body shop suppliers should carry it.

i used 3m mounting tape on my oem replica... It worked just fine, its gonna be a b*ith to take it off if i ever have to because its really stuck on there. I wouldn't be worried about it flying off at high speeds, 1. its very low to the car, 2. if you put tape all the way around it really sticks on. I've been over 150 with mine and its still there.

oh yea.... Try another pepboys, I know for a fact they carry it, i've seen it at every one i've been to, Its usually around the trim/pin stripe sticker section. (i worked at pep boys a few years back) Its grey with a red backing that you peel off.

Thanks for this info, I have been delaying installing my carbon fiber lip because I thought the 3M tape would fail at high speeds, or the fact that some a$$hole would try to rip off my Z

I bought a 20 yard roll of 1/4" wide 45 mil thickness off of eBay for a little over 10 bucks. Actually the tape was $4.24 and the shipping was $6.
I'd highly recommend getting Adhesion promotor also. It strengthens the contact drastically. I also got that from eBay. I bought an entire box of that and have quite a bit left. I can send you a few packets if you want them.

I went to advance auto and bought grey 3M tape. I only taped my spoiler down because i didnt want holes in my hatch. good thing to because i'm about to take it off. But I've been through plenty of car washes and i've done my fair share of high speed runs. It has been fine so far. I've had it on for about 4 months now no problems. just check it every once in a while to see if it has picked up any.

I used the 3m tape (only) to bond my spoiler to my trunk and it has held strong since 3/2004.

it is just a OEM spoiler, not some park bench high rise wing. if he uses the good stuff (usually acrylic + which i used) but the standard now are the new VHB tapes. that stuff is strong as hell and would work perfectly to attach just the OEM spoiler.
