30% for me on the back, portholes and sides. It's my first experience with tinting, so I didn't want to go too dark. During the day, people can still see in, so I can't really be driving around picking my nose. At night, it's a little more private. Definitely nicer looking and a little easier on the eyes, by that I mean a little less eyestrain. It would have been interesting to tint the front a little bit also.

35% was almost like no tint at all. That's the legal limit in CT.

I did 15% on mine, not once have I been stopped by the police nor is it too dark of a tint. that is if you don't get it done cheaply... cheap tints always look darker because they are darker on the inside than a quality tint.

Anyone know if you have to remove the door panels for a good tint job on our Z's? The windows go down like 5 mm. when you open the door so wouldnt they have to remove the door panels to get the bottom of the windows?
I really want to tint my Z but the only shop I know that tints in my area told me they woudnt remove the door panels and I want a "perfect" job done. Ive had bad experiences with tint shops in the past.

Anyone know of a good tint shop in the DC/Rockville area?

No..........they do not have to remove your door panels to tint the side windows. All they have to do is with the door is open, have someone push in the door sensor in the frame of the door opening. Holding this switch in makes the window system think the door is closed, and the window goes fully up again. While the button is in, they put the tint on and the whole window is covered without taking the door panel off. Give it a try yourself and you will see what I mean.

On another tinting subject, here is a great informational site for tint.

http://www.autowindowtintings.com/

This site has an interactive tint selection guide that enables you to select different percentages of tint on a sample car. You will then be able to see what the tint will look like. As an added bonus, when you are doing tint samples, a pop up window tells you which states consider the tint you selected to be legal

or if the door is open instead of pushing in the door sensor...you could remove the screw right ontop of the sensor and the window will go all the way up. be sure not to shut the door or the window will break....put the screw back in and it will work again.

I got my windows tinted on my blue 350Z limo all the way around. even the front 8" of the windshield is tinted limo that equals to pulling up to someone at a red light and having the windows up and they can not see you. I have to roll the windows down while driving so i wont get pulled over. At night same problem, have to roll down to back up. Paid $250 with lifetime and guarantee that if I get pulled over they will put lighter tint on window.

Do you have an issue with the tint sticking to the windshield as I have seen tint not adhere to the small dots across the top?

You can see the tint I have in my sig below. I am very interested in tinting the front windshield (for sun purposes). However, I was worried that the tint would greatly detract from the ability of my Valentine 1 mounted on the front window. Does anyone know anything about this? Also, does anyone have any pics of a front visor strip? I am considering that as an option too.

Default Bay Area Prices

I want to get my car tinted - I see all these prices for $100, $150 . . . the best I can find out here is $280. What is going on? Anyone in the bay area know of a good place that won't rape you on the cost?

Sheesh..........that is a very high price for tinting. I live in the Los Angeles area and paid $160 at a very highly recommended, reputable shop. I think you should keep looking for better prices.
