Does anyone know if there is a source for 12v inside the car that is active only when the engine is running? I know you can pull 12v off the accessory, or key on - but I want to power something only if the engine is running.

Anyone have any suggestions or an easy way to accomplish this?

probably would want to pull it off ignition switch or that power line.
