Default C/F hatch and strut problem

Okay here's the story, I bought a mastergrade carbon fiber hatch and its at the body shop getting installed when the technician tells me he can only use one hatch strut because it would be too powerful and break the carbon fiber hatch when trying to close it...Has anyone heard or had a problem like this? I didn't see anybody having a problem while searching so Im hoping to get some feedback before I go telling the technician to STFU and install it cause he doesn't know what he's talking about. Any help would be very appreciated.

Tonester1011 was having a similar problem with his. I sent him my old, standard struts and they were still too much. You might PM him.

if there is enough interest, I'll develop a set of light-weight hatch struts specifically for those with carbon hatches. I've started to get quite a few requests, so maybe it's time to do a group buy.

They would be stainless steel (type 316) similar to the heavy-duty ones I have installed on my car below, but would simply be lighter-force so that you will not damage your hatch.

Any interest?

Let's start a list!

I've been waiting for this for a long time. My body shop told me the same thing as the OP, the factory struts were too strong for the CF hatch. Hope your light pressurized hatch struts will solve the problem for the many who have Cf hatch....cheers!

Alright. Well right now I'm visiting the parent's, but once I get back home I'll start up on it.

I anticipate having something ready to be shipped by the middle to end of January. I'll also start another thread to keep everyone posted.

A little OT but how's the road noise with the CF hatch?

Love the idea of the weight savings but the extra noise may not be worth it for me.

Please let me know
