Default After reviewing the Cusco front strut...

I didn't find an example of the Seibon TS CF hood and MD 5/16th spacer with a Cusco strut bar. I took my front strut off today while doing some winter engine bay cleaning. I am looking to replace the front strut with the Cusco one.

I personally love the look. As well, I intend to get it engraved for that extra personal touch so clearly, I really want to make sure that it will fit with minimal rubbing given the rest of my current set-up.

Insight appreciated...

I have the Cusco strut bar with the factory 06 hood.

On the stock hood there are two rubber gromets that are about 3" long, tube shapped and about 5'/8" thick to 3/4" thick max.

The one on the drivers side made light contact with the bar. So if your hood sits more than 3/4" lower in that section than stock, I would guess you would, or might might touch.

I just took the stupid gromet out, since it serves no purpose. Of course you don't have those on your hood.

LOL. I thought I asked the same exact question as you once and I did.

Don't know if it helps.

some people just cut sections of the frame work on the hood where it touches, if yer into that kind of thing.

I have Seibon OEM CF hood, 5/16 Motordyne spacer, and Cusco strut
Clearance from hood to strut isn't really an issue. Also, it gives a bit more clearance between the strut and plenum than OEM strut.
My plenum STILL rubs against the strut though

You have the oem style Seibon hood. Do you think the TS hoods vents would hit the Cusco bar? I have heard of lots of people that had to cut up the TS to fit and others who just took out strut bars alltogether.

I'm sure the Cusco bar sites lower than the stock brace because it's so thin/flat but I'm about 50/50 that the TS would clear even the Cusco without some custom tweaking of hood here and there. I don't think it would require a lot of tweaking though.

I can't tell you for sure if it'll clear the TS hood, but I can tell you that it'll at least have better clearance than OEM strut.
Do you have plenum spacer or no? If you're not running plenum spacer I believe you have a very good chance it might clear it without too much tweaking. Don't trust my word 100% though haha.

Default Well...

think of it this way. I have the MD 5/16th and I am clearing fine now with the TS hood & OEM strut. Looking more closely at the Cusco...it is in fact thinner and flatter in design. From this...I do not think there would be a problem.

Always better to have a real life example though...

I think you would probably have a bigger issue with your plenum hitting than the hood, because even though the Cusco is a lot thinner than the stock brace, it does sit pretty close to my stock plenum with no spacer.

You may very well need to modify your plastic engine cover or not use the plastic cover at all.

If you get the TS I would love to know how it works out because I really like the TS hood allthough I'm no position to get for for like 2 years lol, especially since I would get it painted.
