The factory bulbs are NOT the brightest bulbs. You probably have a 6k bulb in your h/l's, you can upgrade to 10K and get more light, with more of a bluish light as well. And the only difference between a d2s, and a d2r is the way the lights fit in the socket. Although, I did have smoked h/l's, and it didn't matter what I did, the only way it got better, is without the smoked overlay's.

So you are saying you can see more with 10000K bulbs than the factory 4300Ks?

10k brighter than stock?
FYI, 10000k is dimmer than halogen, and stock is 4300k, not 6000k.
The only difference between d2r and d2s is the way it fits in the socket? Then why bother making 2 different bulbs?
You my friend have shown your ignorance on the subject

first off all 10k is def not brighter... it may look it because of the amount of colour the bulb reflects. the higher K i bulbs you go the more colour you will see from the bulb and the less illumination (less light) your best bet is to upgrade your ballast in order to get more light. factory ballasts are 35W i know that there are kits out there with 50-55W (Watts) ballast. That is whats going to make your headlight much brighter. i used to have a kit on my privious car a 04 maxima and the difference is crazy (when i had the lights on durring the day you would be able to see me clearly for miles away. sorry but i dont remember what the company was called, and wouldnt know where to get one since my buddy ordered 2 kits from Japan i just bought one from him. but anyway if you want a brighter headlight your best bet is to change the ballast.

The sheer amount of misinformation online regarding Kelvin ratings continues to amaze me. Pratically everyone seems to think that a higher K bulb gives them incrementally more light, not less. The frequency of such posts here is on a continuous rise.

OP. If you want some form of useful information out of this thread, do NOT listen to this post.
