The plate on the left side where you could rest your foot was getting loose, so I attempted to tighten it up. I removed the 5 screws of the plate to get to the base, and then tried tightening the two plastic flat head type screws...

Didn't work though. I pulled off the whole thing to see underneath, but didn't see how I would tighten it up. I put everything back on, and now it's looser than ever.

Any suggestions?

no suggestions, sorry, but i have to chime in and say i hate that thing. since i'm short it's completely useless to me.

I havent looked at it, but mine is loose as well and its pretty annoying, I think i'll take a look at it before its done hibernating for the winter

 

The plastic that the screws go into wears out. Ive had mine replaced now its doing it again, I got used to it eventually-good job Nissan.

 

to the OP: I remember reading a thread on this subject not too long ago, and someone actually came up with a way to make it tight again. (without rebuying the whole bloody thing) It involved rubber bands I know for sure...and electrical tape or something?? I can't remember very well, but it seemed to be very effective. It shouldn't be too hard to find.

thats what i found, my dead pedal is loose too but once i get time ill be doing this.

 

Mine was loose when I got it..brand new. Only have 1k miles right now, just took it to the dealer and they replaced it. seems okay now.

exactly...its called a dead pedal.

i would check to make sure that when u put it back on that the rubber/plastic black thing is in place and that the carpet didnt get under there.
