Default Question about front bumper

Over the weekend I rear-ended someone getting on a highway
There was no major damage to my car except for the front bumber has 2 dents where the other car's license plate screws were. Also there were some scratches and chipped paint under the head light (at the corner where is comes down to a point). Where the Nissan emblem is there is this "wavey bump" from when the bumper bent.
So my question is, what should I do, should I get a new bumber? maybe just go and get an aftermarket one? I don't think I can just paint it because of this wavey bump by the emblem.
Any ideas? suggestions? places I could check to get a good price for bumper?

Thanks,

man this sucks, I can't look at my car anymore.

OEM parts aren't easy to find right now, and they appear to be just as, and sometimes more expensive than aftermarket.

I'd personally go with the NISMO fron bumper--it looks good and it's not flashy. You can check out Gruppe-S.com or a few other shops that are regulars on this forum and see what they could do for you.

Just be more careful in the future--you'll really kick yourself if you seriously injure that car.

on the back oem was much cjeaper(270 vs 700) painting was 200 but had to be done either way.

Id expect the front to be similair. i was able to get the bumper within 3 days.

but your damage sounds minor... a good shop might be able to smooth it out and paint it if you are ok with that.

I JUST had my front bumper replaced last week from a similar accident. Tapped a car pulling out of the gas station going at most, 1mph. Had the ripple in the plastic. It ended up costing me $594 to get a new bumper, painted and attached.

You better check the inside also, there's a piece of black impact foam that breaks on impact. If the impact foam didn't break, try reaching inside and pushing the bumper back out. I don't think the bumper cost that much. Ask some body shop, some body shop get the bumpers at cost which runs between $160 - $250, work a deal with them. Hope this helps.

installing yourself isnt too hard, and from the 600$ price tag, I figure 500 tops for bumper and paint, meaning you save 100 if you install it yourself. people pull off there bumpers all the time for CAI, sidemarkers, and other stuff.

Thank you all for the help. Installing the bumper is not a problem, just figuring out what needs replacing and how much it should run before I go out and get screwed by some body shop wanting to rip off the insurance company.
Bz8, thanks for the info I will do that tonight to make sure that's not broken.

nblancha, I have that same exact ripple and some scratches so hopefully it will be around your price range maybe cheaper.

I will post the estimates I receive for future knowledge.

Thanks,

zaway

I talked to a couple body shops around here and the cheapest I found was for $650 so next week I'll be getting it replaced.

Thanks for the help guys.

Hate to jump in on your thread, but any of you guys with "ding'd" bumpers want to get rid of them? I'm in the market for one, especially the front but possibly the rear also.

Shoot me an email if anyone is interested jbarreca@sunlink.net
