how to repair Carbon fiber hood
Hey guys,
i just recently purchased a cf hood from a member from this site
However, the only thing he did to protect it from shipping was bubble wrap
the hood is severely damaged
here are some pics

is there anyway i can repair this or am i just SOL
maybe if i were to take it to a body shop (epoxy and then paint the entire hood)
idk
any info will help
/if it can be fixed will the cost be astronomical
thanks

who did you purchase it from if you dont mind my asking.. i bought one from another member a while back and it came looking just like that.. i got quotes on getting it fixed... would have cost well over 400.. i filed a claim with the shipping company they kept giving me the run around for about 4 months at which point i gave up and was able to get my money back from the seller luckly and returned the hood.. i feel bad for him taking the hit..

you would think the extra couple seconds to take time would save them alot in shipping claims.
i got a body kit, and when i picked it up it looked like some s.o.b ran over it with a forklift!! broken into many pieces and the box smashed!!! the guy i bought it from packed it well enough, and didn't expect him to take the hit on it. tried getting my money back from the shipping company (the guys who actually did the damage!) and after 4 months they said they would pay $0.25 a pound of the weight of the package. you want to talk about vigilanty payback!! hard to get recourse so i took it as a loss.

Should have inspected the hood before accepting it. Not sayign this is all your fault cause it obvious should have had more packaging material then just bubble wrap, but if I got a hood simply wrapped in bubble wrap theres no way I would sign for it without checking it out.
I would file a claim with the carrier for "conceiled" damages. Keep all your packaging material and hope for the best. Paypal probably wont help you because he did ship you the hood. Once it gets picked up from the carrier he is released from any damage claims.

the same thing happened to me, I tried selling my nismo cf front bumper and when the dude got it, it was in terrible shape. He complained, so I refunded his money and on the way back it got even more f'd up. It really sucks man, nobody in the shipping industry gives a damn.
