Default *UPDATED 4/13/2008* wrapped my b pillars in carbon fiber as well! pics, 56k no

keep in mind this was my first piece that ive done. Still need to wetsand the clear coat from 400-2000 and buff. Itll be shiny! Gotta drill the holes for the emblem as well.......eek!

took forever and wasnt easy! tons of labor and time to do this kind of work. Took alot of patience with the resin to build of the layers and then to sand it smooth! Tons of supplies required to do such a simple piece.

whatcha think?

*UPDATE*

B-Pillars. They are at the same step as the strut bar cover pics ,the clear coat is drying and waiting to be wetsanded and buffed. This is a new clearcoat, dont like it as much as the other brand i used. Probably going to switch back. The clear seems to have a few craters, theyll be sanded out.

Looks good, not a huge fan of the red Z though. I would have just left it off. Nice work either way.

Now go wash your dishes.

I'm not a big fan of CF, but I give you props for the time and dedication it took to conquer a project like this...

It was looking so good till you plopped a red Z in the middle of it.

too busy to wash dishes.

Good thing i still have a silver Z then. Havent drilled the holes yet, may see how it looks with and without. The red z is not permanent......but i like it.

Bolaz......these are a pita to do! The resin/cf/cups/brushes/sandpaper and labor to do them make overlays expensive to make, however you can get a much deeper shine and cover parts that vendors dont offer. Im not sure what tonester was charging to do these but it may have been over 200 bucks....and now i know why. The number of hours of labor in this piece is incredible!

Next up will be my b pillars......and then onto the center console....already have a few tricks/thoughts up my sleeve about these.

if you have any questions lmk. If youd like a little DIY kit lmk. It would include the carbon fiber and resin to do the project so you dont have to buy an entire yard or huge amount of resin to do just one piece.

you can get the basic supplies at walmart. For the resin i used maxclr off of ebay......around 100 bucks for 1.5 gallon. CF is available in several spots, just find one that offers you to buy it in the quantity you like for a good price.

I like twill weave over plain weave. You need to pick a strength/weight per sq yd ( 5.7-5.9oz) as well.

I vote for silver, red looks out of place and no emblem looks too plain but good work regardless. Looks nice now wrap my center console j/k
