Default D2R 6000K HID Bulbs

Hi All, for the past couple of Months I've been reading all kinds of postings about HID lighting and stuff I finally installed some 6000K Bulbs instead of the original 4300K Bulbs and men what a difference I know have that Purple lighting I was looking for. The 4300K are the brightess but the 6000K are definitely best looking, ouch what a difference . At night you just can't beat that HID Purple feeling, I originally installed some Philips D2R 6000K only available to japan market paid the Big Bucks and taught that I couldn't go wrong with Philips but there a little on the expensive side, meanwhile I was looking for a cheaper alternative waiting for my supplier to send me some Korean Made D2R 6000K bulbs for sampling and testing after 1 Month i'm extremly satisfied just as much as with the philips 6K Bulbs, actually the Korean ones have a slight edge in the color , talking about the Purple here there slightly more purple and work like charms, I'm now convinced and satisfied with the Korean Bulbs and am know expecting big order to come in approx. in 1 month a month and half. personally I couldn't stand the original 4300K too much on the Super white side . Anyways not trying to do some business here but taught that if anybody had the same idea or was thinking of upgrade I did it and verry happy with the Upgrade.

Cheers, and thank God that we have such a good 350Z community were we learn everyday.

I bought the K2 6000k kit, and I hate it!!! It's VERY purple, and I think it's very hard to see at night. I'm wondering if I can buy the 4300k bulbs and use those. The K2 kit is Japanese, and made by Panasonic. Does any one know if Panasonic makes a 4300k bulb in H7?

Thanks,

Ian

For all of you's don't compare to complete aftermarket HID kits the bulbs I'm talking about are not H7 they are D2R just like the ones that come standard with 350Z equipped with Xenon System. For all of you's looking to install a complete H7 Xenon Kit I suggest you install the good Stuff which is PHILIPS made in Germany , chances are that all others (Most aftermarket HID Kits are made in Taiwan and you can't compare to Philips I've been selling HID kits for a while now and tried all kinds and nothing compares to PHILIPS HID Kits. Philips HID have OEM Look its not a crappy system with painted bulbs and all that crap. Any Info or questions I can help. Thanks

well, I currently have a Philips 9006 kit in my Integra Type R, and is it possible to buy a Philips 4300k H7 D2R bulb that will work with my 9006 kit balast?

Thanks,

Ian

No your getting confused D2r is the Bulb Model just like H7/9006 anything that comes out of factory with Xenon comes with D2r or D2S depending of the makes of cars , for example, BMW uses D2S and Nissan 350Z D2R. Ifyou have H7 you need H7 Thanks

Philips does not sell an "HID KIT" -- they solely manufactur bulbs and ballasts.

I have the factory XENON headlights, but the High Beams are Halogen. The yellow from the halogen distorts the XENON and makes it look really gay. I was going to buy a cheap H7 bulb, but then came upon PIAA Japan H7 Plasma Spark Blue bulbs. OMG what a difference. They are just like HID for a fraction of the cost. The bulbs are 55w producing 100w rated at 7500k. Check it out!

100 Watts, according to me and experience with Xenon Bulbs not HID, chances are that you will fry your wiring harness real quick. Just my 2 senses.

How much you guys are paying for these HID bulbs? I saw some guy selling them on ebay for $139. Is the price reasonable?

When comparing the Z's xenon performance to my other car - Acura CL-S - they are weak. Is there any way to get more light out of them?? My eyes are bad at nght and I need all the help I can get.
Has anyone tried to raise the beam pattern a little bit??
I would consider using an aftermarket HID kit for the high beams but they take too long to heat up.
Any ideas??

Just about every blue coated HID-like halogen bulb is a joke. They always mis-advertise them, describing their light output equal to that of a "100WATT" or something like that, when its completely not true. You've got to be VERY careful when buying non-name-brand bulbs, especially those with ANY type of HID-LIKE appearance.. they usually lack in the quality department and can easily burn out harnesses/connectors if they are not the proper wattage.

The problem with the Z33's headlamps is not so much the design of the headlight, but the HEIGHT of the car. This is why most sports-cars have a very hard time getting a fair amount of light on the ground, especially when compared to trucks and SUVs.

Using HID for high-beam is not ideal, HID is NOT designed for ON/OFF or flash use. HID draws quite a bit of current on startup and does NOT like to be turned on and off, that can lead to premature bulb failure. Besides, its a complete waste of energy.. might as well get some 120W bulbs and custom make a wiring harness -- you'll get MUCH more performance that way.

Too many people are confused on the pro's and con's of HID, they think its god's gift to this world. It is good because its efficient, but personally.. I am not too fond of any bulb that goes past the 4500K color range.

Too many people are concerned with color, when they should be looking at the facts: longevity, efficiency, and performance.

I would have to agree with you Old. (I feel like I'm disrespecting you calling you that )
Your idea about making a harness kit and installing some BIG bulbs is probably the way to go. For the short anount of time high beams would be on there is probably a small risk of generating too much heat to damage the housing.
Anybody know how much is involved in making a high beam wire harness?
