How many of you have aftermarket steering wheels? How can i find out if it is legal where i am at? I know some places wont let you take out the factory airbag.

Do you race your car?
I think if you just use it for Daily/sprited driving if so I think it is crazy to not have an airbag. Especially where the Z wheel is pretty nice as is.
I would beleive you can do whatever you want to your car, because technicly by taking the airbag out you are only indagering yourself, and no one else around you.
There are a ton of cars pre .... I dont really know... but a bunch of cars before X date dont have airbags, so I think it is more of a law for manufacturs now than for consumers.
Good Luck

Technically ALL cars must meet DOT and NHSTA standards for when they were built. That would include having functioning airbags for both driver and passenger in the 350Z. Every state has laws that include meeting Federal safety standards, so technically you could be in violation under this standard for having a QR wheel. This is something to consider NOW, not after you've been in an accident and get a citation!
For the record, I have a MOMO QR steering wheel on a SCCA/NASA T2/PTB 350Z racecar. It is not registered for street use and transported via enclosed trailer.
