Default White LED License Plate and Trunk Lights

Hey guys,

Thought that this might be a helpful thread. I've been looking for good images that compare regular license plate light bulbs with LEDS as well as comparing different types of LEDs, and haven't been able to find them. So... I decided to post one!

The LEDs were ordered from www.v-leds.com
http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Control/fp/SFV/32481

Here are the 3 types of LEDs that were tested:

HID WHITE 6 LED LIGHT BULBS 194 168 158 2825 W5W s
http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Control/P...id/0/SFV/32481

V-LEDS HID WHITE 6 LED M-SMT FLANK BULBS 194 168 158 2825
http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Control/P...id/0/SFV/32481

V-LEDS HID WHITE FLANK HIGH POWER BULBS 194 168 158
http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Control/P...id/0/SFV/32481

They all look yellow, but when lit, they are pure, bright white.

IMO, the ones on the full flank circuit board are much better - in terms of brightness, quality, and snug fit.

I was trying to find the PIAA ones, which supposedly are the JDM ones, and are of higher quality? If anyone knows more about this, can you help me out with the part name/number and a link to order it online? Thanks!

Nice comparison. That yellow looks nasty.

Comparison of:
(on the left) V-LEDS HID WHITE 6 LED M-SMT FLANK BULBS 194 168 158 2825
(on the right) HID WHITE 6 LED LIGHT BULBS 194 168 158 2825 W5W s

Notice that the one on the right (LED without flank) has a greenish hue and is not as bright... so for those of you who prefer it not to be too bright, this might be a better option.

I used V-LEDS HID WHITE FLANK HIGH POWER BULBS 194 168 158 for the trunk lighting and it's quite impressive as well... bright, pure white.
Interesting thing here is that you can flip either way (positive and negative contacts) with the trunk light, whereas for the license plate lights, they need to be in a certain orientation (correct positive and negative contacts).

Thumbs up

Man, I was hopin' they had some blue ones, to give my "Z" a kinda sexy look! I guess I'll have to settle for the red ones---at least for the trunk; & white ones for the license plate! Thanks, xdrius!!!
P.S. IF you run into some blue(-ish) ones, please let me know (you can PM me
if necessary!) Thanks, again.

Some of us don't do stupid retard things on the road so it does not matter whether or not the cop sees our plates...

BTW, z350boy, never try to get away from a cop car that's after your tail. Hollywood makes it look glamorous, but it's dangerous; you could kill children, elderly folks, get into a huge crash...Try not to break the law, but if you do, &
get caught, the ticket's comin'!

It doesn't matter if the license plate light has a yellow hue or is pure white... if ANYONE wants to know your license plate number, they will be able to see/read it... no matter what. lol In addition, who can refuse to look at a Z?

To be honest, I baby my Z, so I drive like a grandma. If I do accelerate, it's usually on the freeway on-ramp to accelerate to the flow of traffic. Nothing to worry about if you're a courteous and safe driver. If I want to speed, I'd rather take it to the track.

Do you have to run resistors for the plate leds?

I researched on this for a good few days before I ordered. I refused to buy the superbrightleds since my friends had it and would go out often, also from a lot of other members on the site saying it goes out too often. I went with PIAA , Part No. 19263 Super LED White/White. The superled one also has a more of a blue tint and the PIAA one is a lot more white. The only thing is I wish they lit up a lot more, they only have 2LED in each bulb but it works great and is very nice. Also they are really expensive for some LED bulbs, but I wanted quality/and not ones that will burn out on me. So I'll see how long these last.

I bought a bunch of different bulbs. From regular bulbs to leds from piaa, and other brands. They all sucked compared to the ones I found made by some guy on ebay. I replaced all of the ones i bought with the ones from ebay. Here's the link. http://stores.ebay.com/warden-jp2002. I had all my leds burn out after maybe 3 months, thats seems to be the magic time when they burn out. Also these are definetly the brightest and best colored ones I've seen. The boards look great in the dome. The vleds look great on the website but they arent to be honest. I've spent probably around 150 on bulbs alone. I've had all of them in for about 9 months now and nothing has gone. If any do, I will definetly replace with the same. I have front parking lights, domes, trunk, license plate. Save yourself time and money.

Do you have the model number you used from PIAA? Do you have pictures of said bulb on your vehicle, I'd love to see how it looks like.
