How about CF door handles to replace the ones on the outside? just an idea!!

these guys in the north bay area make nice parts, but the tooling costs are larger than the normal epoxy resin tooling since it's pressure molded graphite. they actually make F1 turbo turbines out of graphite! the tooling engineers name is Jack Fudge (no joke, sounds like pack fudge), but he is brilliant guy. this process would be sweet for the door handles. make them sleek, take away the sore d!ck look. any investors out there?

Yeah really. No offense, but I don't understand why you would go pre-preg on something non-functional like that. If this is just for looks, I think a lot of people will be unhappy with the results.

Is pre-preg the new, unobtainium, racing-inspired bling?

The company that I contacted that is actually willing to do this project only does prepegg. If you think the results would be undesireable you obviously missed the pics I posted of their work because it is flawless. If you are interested in overlays, why don't you find a better deal than what I have proposed and start a new thread. If you have no interest in this at all, why are you even in my thread?

Just offering some constructive criticism. Sorry, didn't know you would get defensive and butthurt.

Maybe you should put up a disclaimer about how you don't want to hear any feedback that might hurt your feelings.

you'll have a bigger target audience! i.e. 03 and 04 models.

Actually there was nothing constructive in your post at all. Just criticism followed by a smartass comment. Either make an alternative suggestion, which would be constructive, or keep your negativity out of my thread.

I bought a set of these on eBay:

Cut out the audio/cruise controls with a Dremel, and ended up with this:<!--[if gte vml 1]><v:shapetype id="_x0000_t75" coordsize="21600,21600" o:spt="75" oreferrelative="t" path="m@4@5l@4@11@9@11@9@5xe" filled="f" stroked="f"> <v:stroke joinstyle="miter"/> <v:formulas> <v:f eqn="if lineDrawn pixelLineWidth 0"/> <v:f eqn="sum @0 1 0"/> <v:f eqn="sum 0 0 @1"/> <v:f eqn="prod @2 1 2"/> <v:f eqn="prod @3 21600 pixelWidth"/> <v:f eqn="prod @3 21600 pixelHeight"/> <v:f eqn="sum @0 0 1"/> <v:f eqn="prod @6 1 2"/> <v:f eqn="prod @7 21600 pixelWidth"/> <v:f eqn="sum @8 21600 0"/> <v:f eqn="prod @7 21600 pixelHeight"/> <v:f eqn="sum @10 21600 0"/> </v:formulas> <vath o:extrusionok="f" gradientshapeok="t" o:connecttype="rect"/> <o:lock v:ext="edit" aspectratio="t"/> </v:shapetype><v:shape id="_x0000_i1025" type="#_x0000_t75" alt="" style='width:760.5pt; height:570.75pt'> <v:imagedata src="file:///C:/DOCUME~1/Dave/LOCALS~1/Temp/msoclip1/01/clip_image001.jpg" o:href="file:///C:/DOCUME~1/Dave/LOCALS~1/Temp/moz-screenshot.jpg"/> </v:shape><![endif]--><!--[if !vml]--><!--[endif]--><!--[if gte vml 1]><v:shape id="_x0000_i1026" type="#_x0000_t75" alt="" style='width:760.5pt;height:570.75pt'> <v:imagedata src="file:///C:/DOCUME~1/Dave/LOCALS~1/Temp/msoclip1/01/clip_image001.jpg" o:href="file:///C:/DOCUME~1/Dave/LOCALS~1/Temp/moz-screenshot-1.jpg"/> </v:shape><![endif]--><!--[if !vml]--><!--[endif]-->

While it's not perfect, it looks a lot better than I thought it would. The stuff was really hard to lay a cutting template on and was a real b*tch to cut straight because the top and bottom are designed to curve around the steering wheel, so getting the Dremel in the right position was not easy. Also, I used a black sharpie to color in any silver left showing from the original pieces underneath. That helped a ton. I'd still prefer a custom made/cut piece to what I have now, as I'm sure it would look 100% better.
