Thanks! I think I will try to upgrade the ballast and bulb instead of spending $1800 for new 06+ OEM lights.

Thanks! So if I was trying to install aftermarket HID's I wouldn't need to get the D2S adapter cables right? I just want to make sure that I buy a kit that's plug and play so that I can avoid any unnecessary complications.

check out this thread. Looks like we may have to splice the factory connector to fit aftermarket ballast connectors. Unless there's an oem Nissan adapter? You can also run aftermarket wire harness for the aftermarket HID kit.

Hey guys, 55W kit are not for our cars, are designed for euro cars which the cpu handles the electric system. 55W kits and 35W kits use the same bulb, just different ballast to handle the situation. Thanks, sagahid.com

No more lumens, 35 and 55 lights equal. You get more light output only changing the color K temperature. The ballast on 35w kits consume 35w and the ballast in 55w kits consume 55w, so the 35w is better for us. Thanks, sagahid.com

Apex, due to they are different manufacturers you may see a difference beteween both. Also the K may be different. I deal direct from the factory and can guarantee you the difference between 35 and 55 kits. Also, may this guy bought a cheap kit the first time??? You may confirm what Im saying simply installing a 55w bulb in a 35w system, you will see they are exactly the same. Thanks, sagahid.com

I think you are right. The bulb is the same, but the ballast output is different.

Also to ppl who is going to purchase the 55w kit, you may need to go with a little higher temp, like 6000k to get the 5000k effect, due to 55w changes the color a little.

I ordered the 55w 5000k yesterday and already shipped, so I couldn't change to 6000k. Will see how it output when I get it installed.

I will be a little more specific this time for everyone who may concern. HID bulbs has no filament, their brightness comes creating an arc of light. An halogen bulb filament tickness may vary to accomodate diferent watts capacity, thats why you may found same bulb with different watts. In a light arc you have no this chance due to current is just "jumping" from one diode to the other. The only function of the ballast is create this arc, sending 23,000 volts (that's correct) for some milliseconds and once the bulb start it comes back to the regular 35w (or 55w) on which it works. Most modern european cars cpu's regulate the electrical systems of the car, due to almost every car bulb is 55w when you install a 35w HID system the dash service light may turn on and/or simply the HID light dont turn on, advising the driver that there is a malfunction on system (mostly blow out bulb). For this purpose was the 55w kits created, so this way those cars cpu's dont detect any change and works perfectly. This is the main reason 55w are not popular in US. We are HID distributors and we install 35w kits on euro cars simply adding a resistors to "deceive" the car computer. Bulbs of both kits are the same, also the igniter, all different is the current drow. Hope this info is helpful for all, and remember once compare two different systems you have to do it from the same manufacturer, same color K temp and same vehicle with same headlamps, there are many factors involved in the final pattern or brightness of an HID system. I used the Brightstar kit almost 5 years ago and have had no issues. I don't know if the kit is still available. The company where I bought the Brightstars is out of business.
