Default Z Hitch...whose got one

There was a post a while back about someone that made a Z hitch that hid under the rear bumper when not in use. Searched all those threads for people that made them and tried contacting them and it turns out no one I contacted still makes them anymore. Does anyone know where I can get one?

Mine has one its an 03.. Very irritating as I have to take off the whole rear bumper to gain access to the bolts holding the tow hitch on. I have no idea why someone would put 20 inch volks and a tow hitch on a 350z...

to tow their other set of wheels to the track seems like a logical reason.

Hitch and trailer is pretty easy to do. I would have to buy a truck and then buy a trailer. If a corvette can get away with so can we. I will also be racing in different states, so a trailer is the least expensive way to travel

That's my reason. The track is an hour 45 minute drive for me.

That, and I can't afford/ dont need a truck other than for this reason.

Hey Mw9, if you have them can you post pictures of the Z with the hitch hidden and with it ready for use? And if I'm understanding this correctly, you have to take off your rear bumper every time you need to connect your trailer up?

I've got one of Roark's hitches, and it's great -- other than you really do need to have the bumper mounting brackets gusset-welded since they are designed for compression, and the hitch applies tension.

Vertical receiver, so if the stinger isn't on, you don't even know it's there.

I've used mine for carrying my DOT-R tires and race gear to autocross events. It beats having the tires inside the car (especially if, when I get there, it's raining) and the car hardly knows that the trailer (approx. 450 pounds total) is back there.

That was a custom-made hitch. The hitches currently available are similar, but may not have the vertical receiver.

You might check around, there may be people who have one that aren't using it any more.

Any reason why this hitch is listed for '04-'06 Z's, excluding '03? I am going to pick one up for my '03. I noticed there are two styles out there; one that mounts below the license plate and another that uses the frame rails. All the ones I've seen mounted are the ones that mount beneath the license plate.

I also have an 2003 350z touring model that uses the curt hitch 11493. I believe the reason why 2003 was not posted anywhere at all is because there was no official 2003 demo test fitment done on that year to confirm. But from all the 350z's I've seen, they all used the 11493, and the g35 used the 11483. I ordered mine from hitchsource and had to put in 2006 as the year in order to obtain the 11493 option.

I had the same hitch intalled at U-Haul for about $150. Check with them but make sure you stay there and look at what they do. They installed mine wrong and the hitch is right up against my exhaust so there's more vibration in the car. They also dented my Nismo muffler to make it fit.

Some of you might wonder what it looks like with a bike rack on, so here are some pictures of a 2003 350z with the Curt 11493 hitch.

What is the difference between the two part numbers?

(I know, 10, right? )

I have an '05 with the bumper tuck mod done. I am wondering if one of these would sit higher up than the other, so it is tighter to the modified bumper?

The 11493 uses the boxed bumper support beam found on the 350z. The 11483 uses the rounded bumper support beam found on the g35. I have NEVER seen them vice versa. Correct me guys if I'm wrong but of all the 350z I've peaked under the rear bumper to see, they all require the 11493 Curt Hitch. Every single one I've checked had the rectangular boxed support beam.

Both 11493 and 11483 sit at the same height, what makes them different is the 11493 has a narrow lower plate, versus the 11483 having a wider plate to accommodate the thicker g35 bumper support beam.
