Thanks for the tip about this, I'm going to try it next weekend when I install my chrome-plated turn signal bulbs.

The bulb sits in the same housing as the headlight which get real hot, maybe this is what happens to the marker over time.

Default Piaa Extreme Whites

That is very innovative, but I would suggest getting Piaa Extreme Whites for 15 bucks max (13 here at a local Honda dealership). They are closest to HIDs for 164/198 bulbs.

Yep, the color probably won't last long. Why not just replace this bulb with a LED? Cost is only $3 plus shipping and you get nice color with no fade.

Yup - you were all right - the blub discolored after a while. There is still blue, but more to the tip is a darkened area. Oh well, worth a shot.

I think I am going to get LEDs instead of bulbs - change them out next oil change when I jack up the car.

Interesting... I already have LEDs for my front parking lights and license plate.

I found out the resistors burn out after less than a year of usage. I'm currently ordering some Luxeon 1W LEDs for my parking lights, turn signals, and trunk light. I already have a pair of them in my DOME light, and they emit much cleaner lighting at night in my car. I had them put on the day I got my car, and they still work like new after nearly a year.

It would be nice to get my headlights cleared. Anyhow, I'll be getting clear sidemarkers + LEDs by end of this year.

For now, you can browse the pictures of the LED fitted in my headlight:

Mr Graphics, Thanks for giving me a great idea towards cleaning up my HID lights. This is a big favor to ask, but could you please give me, or better yet show me instructions via pics on how to take the necessary paneling or fastners off to get good access to the headlight assembly. I am actually going to just purchase the bulbs, but I don't trust anyone else to take stuff apart and put it back together with the same care that I would. Thanks in advance.

You might want to do this one side at a time. Jack up one side and remove the wheel.

Remove two screws underneath the front most side corner of the bumper that's holding the fender cover.

Pop off 3 tabs holding the front fender cover. Remove the screw thats holds the cover to the fender edge.

You'll be able to pull the front fender cover from there and see this:

I can't understand why anyone would have anything but AMBER turn signals in their car. Yeah, it's a Nissan, but it's a 350Z - don't make it ricey.

Clear and Blue lights look pure rice.

Just get some chrome turn signal bulbs that light up Amber - those look damn good....and real classy!

Good luck,
juhko

hahahaahah i did the same thing to my freinds CL-S with a sharpie. The blue faded needless to say but we were in luck because the local kragen had 194B bulbs. The come factroy blue glass, they also sell the red ones. If they dont have them they can order them. They are like 5 bucks....
