Question Put a cruise control in a base 350Z. Mission Impossible?

Been thinking about putting cruise in base 2005 Z. Not wanting to pay $2000 for dealer to do this. From what I've put together, I'd need a virgin ecu or (ecm) for an enthusiast model, the cruise unit for the wheel, maybe some switches for the brake and clutch petal.----Is this information right? Has anyone here acutually done this mod? I have an IQ above 60, some mechanical knowledge and a repair manual.

is it really that worth it to go thru all that trouble just for cruise control, save you money and spend it on something that will make you car perform better, the z is a sports car, not a stay at one speed car. think about it ... its very useless

A dealer won't and can't do it for any amount of money.

+2!

I can understand why you want it though, it really helps cut down on excessive speeding.

Actually, I set my cruise at 60mph all the time. I drive a lot faster than that - the cruise keeps me from slowing down as much.

When you've taken as many long road trips as I have - you really appreciate having CC.

I have a base model and thats all I need I don't really think about these things.. if you really wanted it why didn't you just but an enthusiast+? Doesnt make much sense to me.

Think you have to replace the ECU, and add all the wiring... Probably not worth the effort.

I can understand why some people like it but for me I never use it and would not even consider spending what you would have to for this mod

I can understand you wanting cruise control, for some reason when im driving without cruise on my car will slightly accelerate or decelerate, which i find very annoying. have you thought about maybe trading in for an enthusiast.

I got a base and I'm not that lazy to give my gas pedal foot a rest. Should've thought what you really wanted before you bought your z.

sorry to say this but, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE... the only way out is to trade in your ride with the one that already has... if you get a good deal, that would amount to 2k bucks more, with maybe slightly higher mileage...

Could do aftermarket cruise. OE will be virtually impossible. Aftermarket will look like ***.

I don't understand why any new car doesn't have cruise...my 1979 Ford had it from the factory. hell so did the ol 65 Lincoln. but that's not fair b/c it was the name of Luxury in its time.

Looks like 6 months have passed and this thread has come up again.

It *is* possible. You need a new ECU, accelerator pedal assembly and you need to rewire several harnesses to get it to work.

Is it worth it? No. Will it cost you more to do this than to trade up to a model with cruise control? Yes.

In the end: is it feasible or even remotely smart? ....

No.
