I ordered my Z with the cloth seats nowing that I was going to replace them. I am a thin guy and most OEM seats these days are designed for "wider" American physiques. I also noticed that the factory seats pushed too hard on my lower back never allowing me to fully get into a comfortable driving position (I am 136lbs & 5'-11"). I installed Bride BrixII's & have the perfect driving position now. My recommendation is get the seat that fits you and you don't have to spend big bucks to do it(Corbeau,Cobra, JIC Magic all make affordable seats) being comfortable when driving far outweighs any fashion statement you wish to make.

I've owned my Z for 4 years now. I also own 5 other vehicles.

Lately, I have really noticed how uncomfortable the leather seats are in my Z.

I'm interested in this thread to find out what would be a good upgrade solution.

but i like my stock seats! i know this may sound dumb but i even though about trying to get the stock nismo in my 08 cuz of the red on black i think would look great on my black car! but i bet they cost alot!
You would be far better off to just have someone reupholster them. Or find a set of katskinz covers (They will replace the entire fabric on the seat already, not a slip over cover like from pepboys).

I wish these seats were like the ones that were in my srt4 (viper inspired seats). Those were by far the most comfortable bucket seats that Ive sat in.

I think im going to be putting my recaro seats from the evo...

where do i get brackets for the Z?

Also the only thing that is really holding me back is the quick reclining lever on the back of the pass. seat in order to access the glove box....the recaros wont have such feature...

I have a 2003 Performance model with black cloth seats.

The door-side bolsters on the driver seat look worn (it looked that way after a few months from new-car-status, and I believe that is a common complaint).

The stock seat squeaks. I hate this.

I’m looking at aftermarket seats for my 2003 350Z.

I had a similar problem with my seats (cloth). I'm not sure if the leather is all power or not, but on the manual seats, there is a dial to adjust the angle of the lower seat cushion, I moved this slightly and it got rid of the squeak.

I'd love to see some pics. Did you use a recommended installer or do the work yourself?

I have factory cloth. I love the seat, but not the material.

So if you have leather stock seats, can you switch it to cloth in the same way as switching to leather( zipper cover)? or do you have to buy whole new seats? thanks

Mine are Frost Leather and I love em. I wish they were the later models, for more adjustment....more ***** the better is my theory.

but all in all, yes I like, nope I wouldn't swap for recaro, etc. but I would swap for seats out of a newer Z if I found a deal that couldn't be passed up on.

yes, can be swapped. I went from leather to cloth in my 01 Miata. easy swap....most seats are built the same way.

With aftermarket seats is the seatting position lower or are the brackets the same hight as OEM seats? I'm 6`4" and would like alittle more head room.

most of the aftermarket seats allow you to sit lower than stock position...

i'm still rocking stocks. whenever i have extra cash to upgrade, it'll most likely be bride. but engine performance comes way before seats.

....factory leather is usually not a good quality seat....
Thanks for the input....I am just about to have the stock cloth replaced with Katzkin
