Question for Interlagos fire owners w/body kits
So after a year of contemplating about wether or not to sell the Z, i have decided that i really can not part with it and so now i am going to be putting some more money into it. As soon as i get back from my deployment im gonna be installing my stereo equipment and upgrading the suspension. I finally decided that i want to get either the Nismo V1 or V2 body kit. Now my question here is for those of you that own an Interlagos Fire Z who added a body kit, did you have any issues with the paint flowing with the rest of the car on the new pieces? I know that some metalic pearl paints can be a real pain in the *** to apply and keep the same color shifting uniform throughout the whole vehicle. Ive seen it first hand on other vehicles where the whole left side of a vehicle was one color but the side skirts were a differnt color and vise versa from the opposite angle, it just looked weird and i didnt like it. It just didnt flow or look good. Like i said i dont know if this is still an issue with the new paints that are out on the market today but any input you guys might have that had work done would be appreciated.
Thanks
Thanks
Bump for an IF owner, so far so good. I think the paint code is L40.....very very expensive paint code. It is discontinued at a lot of places, but reputable paint shops here in Socal can mix it right for you. I know your in AZ, but I'm not too familiar with reputable paint shops there so you could start by making some phone calls and asking if they carry or can mix the paint for you.
If you find a good shop, they can match anything.
Just don't go to iDesigns.

I can definitely attest to this. I just had to replace my front bumper from hitting a raccoon, and well, the paint looks great, until the car turns all copper and the bumper stays purple. Its rather discouraging, although, this body shop got it closer than the last body shop that apparently replaced the bumper. I am going back to get this resprayed, because I refuse to have a multi-colored car. I will continue to go back until they get it right too, they are really close, just needs a bit more flake in it or something...
Good luck.
Good luck.
The place I took mine to get painted had 2 ferraris, 2 bmw's, an NSX and a lambo in the parking lot. It was the third time I'd had a bumper painted and the only time I've ever had a perfect paint match. You absolutely cannot cheap on out an IF paint job if you desire/expect perfect results.

My body shop guy explained it to me today. This is coming from a good man, who is extremely knowledgeable, and has a bunch of years of experience in doing body repair. He runs the most reputable shop in a good 100 mile radius of me (granted, there isn't much in that 100 mile radius, just a bunch of corn).
He said that where they have to order the paint from, sends it premixed, and pre-tinted and everything. There is no way to tell if it is tinted correctly until you apply it and let it dry. He also said, the reason they didn't get it right the first time, is because the company will not send extra tint with the paint.
So, in the end, my paint that was pre-mixed up may match someone's car perfectly, but it didn't match mine perfectly. He said this time he is going to get a hold of the company and see if they will send the tints for the paint so they can get it to change better. It wasn't far off, and i could have lived with it, but i would like it to match as OEM did.
I mean, this could be a line of bull, but I trust this guy. It at least sounds reasonable. His company has done work on all of the cars in my family, and the customer service at the shop is basically a no bull deal. We have had a few problems, but they were immediately taken care of.
No point in having a color this gorgeous and having it look goofy.

After owning my interlagos fire for roughly a year my roof and hatch has mostly sunfaded with the decades of sun blasting on it from previous owners if id have to take a guess. I have now taken it to a excelent body shop in PA with the payment of roughly $2500 including labor, this includes some touchups on the door, repaiting the bumper, roof, and hatch if anybody was curious around the pricing on getting it done RIGHT and NOT cheap.
hows all the ogs doing! hope you hear all the zs doing well <3
