Default Painting undercarriage?

Sorta a new question but when I tried a search it wouldn't let me use the word "under". I plan on getting an x02 exhaust and doing the bumper tuck mod but it makes the pumkin visible. My pumkin is all grimey and alittle rustly so I was wondering it its ok to clean it with degreaser and just paint black with hammerite which is a rust proof paint. I also have a couple of other places that have alittle rust so I wantted to spay those too.

yes you can. I'd suggest using a rust killing product before painting...precaution.

depending on the level of paint perfection your seeking different steps can be taken. but please mask off everything you don't want painted. overspray kills.

Well they coated the bottom of my car too but I don't think they coated everything. Doesn't look like they coated the pumkin at all on mine just the frame. I thought they coated the pumkin because it was black but when I wiped it with my hand black crud wiped off so I guess not.

That's road grime, etc. Only the underbody of the chassis is coated. I wouldn't do any thick layering or anything. You want as much heat to escape as possible. A thick coating may trap it in.

OK. I'll clean it up with the Boeshield rust remover then just do a light coat of hammertie, just enough to cover it up.

And also that M shaped brace thats right infront of the small muffler is rusting. I'm not sure the name of it, is it ok to paint that too?

A link to an undercarriage picture (not mine). The piece I speak of is between the Y pipe and small muffler.

I didn't even know about this stuff. I just googled it, I'll use this instead of the hammerite.
