Default steel wide body 350z from new zealand!

hey guys.
i found this site with a link about the poor guy that got his 350 kit fitted with wood screws!!! couldnt believe it.

i have one of my customers cars in the shop now and it happens to be a 350z
now this customer likes his cars to be full on!

i specialise in doing custom work and seem to get alot of customers asking for steel wide bodys ( not many people here do them)

i will put up a pic of his r34 we did and update some build pics of the 350 for you to give feedback on.

i know it wont be everyones cup of tea but me and the owner would like the car to stand out alot.

anyway good and bad thoughts always help.

heres the r34 gtt skyline 4inch wide body each corner
then the start of the 350 steel wide body

I do like those rear quarter panels, very clean. Just not the fact it's steel.

cheers for the replys!
very interesting! alot of guys over here prefer steel to other alternatives. we get alot of bad quality fg kits here in nz and half the time take more work to get tio fit right than to do steel ones with perfect gaps.Using the steel will only be approx 8-10 pounds heavier than the factory in finished state.(approx 2 pound a guard)

i have a set of fg front guards here for the car but they are rubbish and very thin.

if you guys could give me a insight of whee to get top fitment fiberglass products that would be great. maybe i may regain some faith in products from round the world.

You're right...alot of FG takes alot of work to make it look good esp if its a rep....alot of times to when you modify your fenders, cut or pull , you get them reinforced w/ steel or refabbed out of steel anyway - def alot stronger. I cant tell you how many times people have damaged there rear fenders by leaning on them after a aggressive cut job to get their wide/ stretched wheels to fit. In for the results.

i do fiberglass ones aswell but try to stay away from it. as soon as you start bonding to the factory body its never the best option.

reason for using steel is the factory guards are steel so can weld onto them.
if they were ally to start with i would have worked with ally aswell.

it is about strength and long lasting cars. there are very few people that do carbon work here on cars in nz and realistically not a huge market for it either. i would love to learn but no time for anything at this stage!

top half of the car was sprayed in a matt grey/green colour and digi camo decals put over that later on.
