Question One of two keys will not start brand new Z

I just drove home a new '08 base coupe. I tested out one of the two keys and it will not start the car. The engine would start to crank, but won't fire. So key #1 will start the car, but key #2 will not. But both keys open door, and turn on the power items such as radio.

I will contact the dealer first thing in the morning tomorrow.
Nice forums, I'm glad to have found a community for Z owners.

They will get it figured out for you. The beauty of the factory warranty is that it is there problem not yours. Welcome to the forums I just got my Z last month and I am loving it. I didn't get new because it is a second car for me.

You need to take the keys in and have them to program both of them at the same time. That happened to me before.

If the key stay in contact with each other they can erase the programming on one or both. It happened to me. Have the dealer reprogram both at the same time.

If its not a key with the "chip" in it then it won't ever start the car. Like if you get a copy made at walmart it won't start it just work the doors.

You should have been given 3 keys & 2 keyless. The one thats just a key & keyless should be ur main one u use. The other keyless has 2 keys on it. one of those just opens doors & the other is the valet key which is sets ur rev limit to about 2500 so they cant pull a Farris Buellers Day Off w/ ur ride. BTW welcome to the club

Welcome to the game nOOb.
Thanks, but I am not a noob. They didn't give me the owners manual either, since they need to order all the booklets. Another thing is, I only got 2 keys 2 remote fobs. They also forgot to give me the original window sticker as well.

So far a bad experience, but I heading down to the dealer today to get this all straightened out. Wish me luck, and thanks to all those that replied.
