Default Passenger Window NOT working right... please help

Ok, so ive been trying to find some threads on here with the passenger side window failing. To start off when i hit the button all the way down to bring it up automatically, the window comes up and then goes back down half way. I was able to deal with that, but now when you open and close the door, the window doesnt come down a little bit the way it is supposed to, and sometime the door wont even shut right. I'm thinking it is a sensor or the motor has gone bad... does anyone know about this problem and what it is exactly... has anyone had this problem... I might be missing threads that have the info, so any info or pointing me in the right direction would be great, thanks everyone.

I had this same problem the other day. Remove the inside plastic part of te door. After getting it off your going to see a series of holes on the metal sheet that is behind. Some of these holes will be covered by a thin plastic disc. When you remove one of these disks you will see a little rubber button. Attache the window regulator switch (actualy arm rest part thats attachted to the door, youll plug it in to the connector as before). Turn your key until the power comes on and while pushing the small rubber button roll your window up and down while holding it. This is the reset button and should reset your window to working properly. Im missing some steps so to supplement search for threads by my name and you may find a more detailed thread with pictures. I hope this helps,

Dev

I found this link that has some pics https://my350z.com/forum/maintenance...dow-motor.html you only have to go as far as removing the plastic. If you look you will see three screws that make a triangle shape. Near these screws there should be the blk circular peice of plastic I mention before. Just remove it and get something hard to push down on that little blk rubber button youll see. Remember to roll the window down and up while holding that button (dont use the auto function where you lick it once). After that your window should work fine. Dont forget to put that circular peice of plastic back on. Im not sure if it necessary but I would hate to see something happen because I didnt mention it. GL.

^^^you could try that....

OR just give a couple of punches to the door. around the area of where the motor is. See if that works

LOL yes it sounds stupid, but TWICE my passenger window was stuck for about 20 mins. I was angry and started punching around the door. And it worked. Twice.

but yeah, this is definitely not a permanent solution haha

This has saved me many a time. My passenger motor is ded and I can't justify cranking $150+ for a new one yet. The punching method is much cheaper.

do a search for passenger window....almost everyone has this problem. I am getting ready to replace mine because the "punch" method only works so long before it stops working

also, the window has to go down half an inch...if it doesn't you will break/chip your window trying to close your door. there is a button in the door sill...push that in and then slowly shut your door. you will notice quickly as the door gets closer to shutting, the window will hit the roof if it doesn't go down.

just get the replacement motor at a local car shop and call it a day. the OEM ones blow.

Mine's permanently stuck in the uppermost position...Dead stuck! So I just ordered a new
motor from Advance Auto ($161). Worse!: the glass rubs against the upper part of the
paint (i.e. the curvature that goes from the "rooftop" into the window area!) every time I close the door!!!
These little nuisances give an air of lackluster to our Zs.

Aright guys, here is the update... pulled everything apart and cleaned out the original motor, didnt work what so ever. Got a new motor from local auto parts store. The window works wonderful now. But definately need to have a new motor. The instructions in this link were excellent, and i only used duck tape on the outside because i have tints, that saved alot of hassle. Thanks for the help everyone, problem is solved.

The first issue sounded like a pre-programmed window position. My window just would not raise up as of today.

Bad window motor just happened today to me?

2004.5 Base Z with 35,000 miles with no body damage ano excessive abusing or tracking. I literally took a 20 minute ride came back and tried to close the window to no avail.. Came inside and did a search and saw a thread that mentioned banging the door on the inside near the handle and after 2 small bangs the window went up as normal. I still have a issues now which i gotta get checked out.. Just annoyed the f out of me..

Default pass. side window works funny

My pass. side window has the problems, stuck down below, roll half down after raised, and so forth.
When it first happened, I punched it a few times, and it worked as usual.
Then it is stuck when I roll it down a few hours ago, it won't back up.
I had to drive on freeway with window down.

After I read this thread, I decided to try the punches again before I try out the "window motor clean tutorial".
I punched the door many times before it finally works again.
My hand hurt, but it worth it.

Great helps in this forum.

Thanks,

Default I fixed it

There was this time that the punches won't work any more.
I went thru the instruction of v07848 to clean up the window motor and it worked.
