Hey guys I have an 07 350Z and when ever turning off the engine you can hear a rattle. It almost sounds like when u start a diesel that knockin sound, not loud but loud enough to notice. Is this normal or somethin I need to be worried bout? I'm new to the Z as a whole so just curious.

I have an 06 and I think I know what you are talking about. You have to listen closely, but I have heard it before and it does sound like some kind of rattle. I have had the car 2+ years and is fine, my brother in law also has an 06 and it does the same thing.

 

Same here 08 350z and I think it's the annoying tranny.

Possibly, we both have manuals as well. And yes the clutch and tranny do sound funny at times. It's normal.

 

Mine does the same thing I have a manual also.

 

mine too... 07 350z manual, its scared me a couple of times

 

mine too. i took it to the dealership and they said my pivot bearing was wearing improperly, so they replaced the whole transmission. 2007 manual (now with an 08 transmission i guess you could say). that was really annoying.
p.s. it happens if you only shift in high rpm's and if you're really gentle with the clutch. be quicker and your rattle will fade.

Have you ever used regular gas?? Does it sound like pinging/knocking??

 

I have the same sound on my 06. Annoying as hell. Sounds like a can of bb's in your trans casing. Anyway, people around here said it was the normal *loud* tranny so I never bothered to have it checked out. Doesn't do anything but make noise.
