Default Body Kit Fitment

As some of you may know, I was rear ended. I got some money and I want to put a body kit on my car. Not to bash on any vendors, but as much as many vendors say their body kits fit like a glove, almost all aftermarket body kits do not fit.

Now I have a question for people on the forums with body kits.
What body kit do you have and honestly, how is your fitment?
Is your body kit a replica or authentic?
Did you get it installed professionally or did you do it yourself?
How much did you pay for the paint job?
If you did the install yourself, how difficult was your process?
Or if you had it installed professionally, how much was the cost?

I know it's a lot of questions, but I'll really appreciate the help.
Thanks guys so much.

Mayer

Moved to correct section.

From being on the site as long as I have, you're going to find the small percentage of members who will swear up and down that aftermarket kits fit fine. It's a small percentage, trust me. Most have fittment issues anyway, that a body shop will have to perform minor to major modifications to make the kit fit.

I've personally purchased an aftermarket kit from a site vendor, and the fittment was horrible. Not even fixable. I then purchased an authentic kit after the fact. I had zero fittment issues, was able to get it painted by a local body shop, then install it myself. Save the time, effort, and grief. Save your money up and pay the extra few hundred for a good authentic kit. Go cheap, and you'll get what you pay for...

as a vendor, you try to make sure every kit fits perfectly but from MY personal experience not EVERY replica kit fits properly and even some authentic kits will have problems. im not saying its hit or miss, but sometimes you will get a flawed kit. if there was such thing as quality control in replica kits then we wouldnt have this problem. but the time and cost for everything plays important factors.

I bought a replica body kit my-self. I got the front from a vendor on here. Fitment was dead on. I did nothing other then bolt on it.

Now I got me sides an rear from another vendor on here. One side fit with little or no issues. The other, well I am still working on it. The rear fit good, but there was lots of body work done to make look ok after paint.

The Side the I am having issues with the Vendor has offered to send me out another for free. If the second side has issue, they have offered to refund my money. So The second vendor has Great Customer Service. That makes up for all the issues I have had. I am currently awaiting the replacement side.

1. Authentic Nismo V2 Front and Authentic C-West Skirts and Rears
2. Painted/Installed at a local bodyshop (not a specialty store) for $567.00.

Buy authentic items from well-known manufacturers and you'll be fine.
If you choose to buy replica parts, purchase them from Shine auto.

I have owned a number of ill-fitting grey market products that don't even
compare to my authentic parts. The authentic items fitment is literally 99.9%

Looks like the M1 parts are spot on too...

Vertex Lang. Great Fitment
Is your body kit a replica or authentic?
Authentic

Installed myself
How much did you pay for the paint job?
Can't say, sponsored for paint so only paid labor.
If you did the install yourself, how difficult was your process?
Install of the rear bumper was probably the most difficult, but overall not bad considering I've never done it before.
Or if you had it installed professionally, how much was the cost?
As others have said, save your money and go authentic. I'll admit, I have seen some authentic kits not fit perfect, but they are few and far between. As for Knock-offs, I'd say it's a 50/50 thing. People will say it fit ok, but when compared to the authentic pieces, there are more noticable gaps and things on the knock-offs once installed. I can't speak for vendors like Shine, but I have heard good things.
