And now for something completely different...
With painted '06+ headlights being all the rage, I decided to undertake this project myself. One lesson learned... forget trying to sand the headlight bezels, just clean with rubbing alcohol and shoot right over the chrome.
Nevertheless, I decided to attempt to sand them. I got mixed results, and after a couple of shoots with unsatisfactory results (to me, anyhow), I decided "screw it, I am going to just media-blast these things and be done with it".
As it turns out, parts of those bezels are a translucent plastic, and media blasting with baking soda gives those parts a frosted glass appearance, turning them a white-ish color.
Just for grins, I assembled a headlight to see what they would look like once lit up. I popped one in my Redline to see how horrible they would look... well, I didn't puke right away, so I thought I would share my learnings with the community.
The overall effect is somewhat "ghostly". I like the LED side markers the best.

With headlights on and blinker activated:

Running lights only, overhead view:

Headlights on:

Daylight shot, no lights on:

Another view:

A shot of what the bezels look like before assembling. The blinker bucket and the covering over the LED side markers are an opaque gray plastic, however in person once assembled they blend right in with the translucent parts:

Again, I am just sharing learnings with the community here... someone enterprising could do a lot with this and well-placed LEDs. I would think an LED strip across the "bridge" over the lens would be a really neat effect... as would the "R8" look around the perimeter.
If I had some white volks I would probably rock these as-is. But most likely I am going flat black.

I think you are the very first person to think of puting in an LED strip giving the "R8" look. I wonder if anybody has ever done it before. Really I think you are the very first person to think of this marvelous idea. If only there was a vendor who already did such modifications.
