Carbon Fiber Vinyl Pattern Wrap Thread
Ready for the baller way? No vacuum bagging required (although it helps a TON).
Lay release film on part you want to wrap.
Lay down a layer of carbon fiber.
When dry, remove piece being wrapped and add layer of carbon fiber on the rear side of first layer.
Add additional layers to approach stock piece's thickness.
Cut mounting tabs, etc, off original part.
Mount tabs onto carbon fiber piece with resin.
Progressive sand after drying, polish, and all that shiz.
Tada! An actual carbon fiber replacement.

Let's talk wrapping carbon fiber with 'carbon fiber.'
Has anyone wrapped a rear diffuser before with the CF stuff.
I bought a (evo-r) diffuser recently but I noticed that the glossy CF looks like absolute crap on a black car..well to me at least.
As depicted by my sperm like diagram above, the lines on the piece bend the reflection of light giving off the illusion of what appears to be a very warped bumper. The piece is actually a quality product and it fit like a glove, but the indentation in the center (where the jp visage emblem goes) sort of warps the light that hits it causing its 'warped' look.
Perhaps I'm the only one that seems to be affected by this by means of OCD, but I was just wondering if anyone with a black car had tried the CF wrap before on a diffuser. I'd like to see how well it would contrast. I tried searching but no luck, if it looks bad I'm just going to wrap it in a flat solid color.

i really dont see and issue.. paint it black or fade it from top down if u have issues with how it looks and how it affects the lines

I think it looks wavy because of the difference in thickness of the gel coat they use. You could always try to sand it down to even it out, than have it clear coated.

yeah seriously, leave it be... i mean to each his own, and its ur car....but i vote you are looking WAY too far into it. Looks absolutely fine, as a guy ew a flat black car w glossy carbon fiber on it as well.

A quality deep clear coat,straight lines in the twill that match up.
Most EURO cars,especially Porsche,have matte CF.You could easily give less luster to your diffusser as well as make that "warp" that is bothering you by
adding a few coats of a low gloss or matte finish clear coat.Of course,you would have to remove the piece from your car and take to a body shop.
Looking at your wheels,the matte finish may look good as it would fit in with the look of your black rims??
Also,you may want to consider some rear "spats" to fill in the edges.I've always thought the rear diffusers with the staight
verticle ends that EVO R sells,need some finishing...has a "part that was just added on " look.Needs some fillers at the end
to help the design.
If thats what you want...do it.

Yeah if my wheels had a shiny luster to it, it probably wouldn't look as bad. The wheels are a matte bronze btw, and not black.

See if ran into someone selling this kind of diffuser I would have bought it hands down, its the same design, minus the indentation in the center. No light bends either..I'll post what is to come of my diffuser in the future.
