Default Pics of the door mechanism

Yoonakron,

Could you post some pics of the door mechanism, the part that lifts your door? If it's not too much trouble. Thanks.

i have one concern man. you dont park in a garage do you? it looks like when you open the doors up, you will hit the garage door or ceiling. those things stick out pretty high!

bz8, I will take some pics a little later today/tomorrow of the door mech.

350ZTwinTurbo, I do park in a garage, but the door height is adjustable. I can open them to 30-40 degrees, and still step out of the car. Furthermore, the doors open horizontally about 20 degrees before lifting; I'm not a big guy so I have no problems with entry.

Default Nice Wheel

I like the way that wheel looks on the car, what size and offset are those?

Are those 20x9 and 20x10?

I call Axis, but I am getting all kind of different answer on what offset is avaliable for the Se7en Mod and what is the lip size.

The last answer I got from them was:

20x9: 3 inch lip, +37 offset ONLY.
20x10: 3.75 inch lip, +38 offset ONLY.

I am interested in that wheel for another car. One of the best looking wheel on the market if you ask me. Are you running any spacers?

How much did you pay for them BTW?

Nocturnal, you're correct on those numbers. I've got 20x9 in front and 20x10 in back. I'm not too tech-savvy, so I'm not sure about the offset as a shop did the install for me. However, I know that I'm not running any spacers. There's minimal camber, and you can hardly notice. I paid $2900 out the door, which included Eibach Pro Kit Springs (w/installation).

350ZTwinTurbo, thanks! Yeah, I'm pretty happy with the car and proud of it, too!

Your Z looks great. Thanks for pushing the envelope for the rest of us (and then taking the time to share all your knowledge). I'm sure you've got lots of people doing some mental math trying to figure out how they're going to swing the money for this cool mod!

saint, thanks for the kind words. It's definitely feedback and recognition from everyone that makes mods like this worth it. That, and personal gratification!!

ihatethatbobbarker, aww no, don't EVEN get me started:

I know you said that the door conversion was $2500, how much total was everything including the custom door panels? I have been looking at Lambo doors for a while, but didnt like the 45 degree angle. However now that I see a 90 degree conversion I'm sold.

The modded door panels are a nice touch and is actually something that carxs is planning on doing. They are going to do a prototype on my car so the doors will swing higher, and if it works out nice, may be something they offer as an option with their kits in the future, for a little extra of course.
Carxs has been considering this for months and should have mine done some time in October.
I'll keep you guys posted.

Excluding the removed bulk from the door panels, how much weight would you estimate was added to the car with this kit?

hey hypersonicaz, u play pb?
nice ripper, but you NEED clamshell
I just sold my lasoya for 1150 and am selling my e-blade cocker (this hobby is expensive). But I'm still keeping my 2k2 (was, thumper ram, hydra bolt, all that good stuff) to play with. Since your in canada, are you in the xball circuit or do you do psp/nppl? Personally, I am on the super 7 circuit, but occasionally play 10 man w/bad karma, and I'm looking to get on an x ball team. Anyways, sorry for getting off topic, just nice to see a 350z pballa

[off topic]
Thanks for the compliment. Regarding the Ripper, I'll probably keep the stock frame just because I like the difference in feel every once and a while. I've got the Dragon if I want to use a clamshell.

I'm not currently in the tourney scene (not enough time right now). Cool to hear that you're playing Super 7; I always read great reviews about the series. And I'm sure you'll find X-Ball exciting!

perucho, hmm, I'll see about getting a video clip done. May take awhile, as my digital cam doesn't have the capability. I'll have to borrow a friend's. Keep checking the thread, it'll show up...someday.

Z Dragon, the custom panels cost $1675. This included the fiberglass work & leather upholstery (8 hours/door), as well as the re-wiring work done on the wiring harness (3 hours/door). Nothing major, they just had to extend the wiring so the doors could hit 90 degrees. I'll take some pics of how the shop "grafted" the harness into the chassis, so it wouldn't flop around when the doors are raised. A pretty clean job, aside from the spray paint the first shop used to cover the weld spots. Now, I gotta get that fixed too!

hypersonicaz, each hinge was about 10 lbs, if that. Probably a little over 20 lbs added. I don't race the car at all, so the added weight isn't too much a concern. Besides, I'm losing the spare tire soon anyway to make room for audio/video stuff. Then again, the extra billion pounds of stereo components being added will make weight reduction a moot point.

Hey thackattk, I heard that with the carxs kit, the doors "sway" when they're up. Is this true? At a car show, I saw a Z with padding on the corner of the door panels, presumably to keep it from hitting the A-pillar. Do you have this problem, as it was one factor that deterred me from getting that particular kit.

I've heard that without proper installation, the door can actually fall on you when it is up, this may have been a different kit, it was somethinb my mom was bitching to me about when I told her about the doors I bought...
