havabooz, correct on both counts, although the audio install is coming a little later. They (the shop) are going to glass the panel, then upholster it in leather (or synthetic leather).
toykilla, they had to cut around the door handle to "collapse" the curvature of the panel, so it's not as bulky. I'll explain why by the end of this post.
srobert910, I may take you up on that offer. I'll probably need the panels if I'm ever going to return the car to stock (highly doubtful though).
Now, the reason why I need to panels to be less bulky is because they hit the A-pillar when I do this:
![](http://home.earthlink.net/~yoonakron/car/008.JPG)
I've only seen one other Z on this forum with lambo doors, and the doors only go up to about 45 degress, because of the fat door panels. I wanted to achieve a full 90 degree look, which isn't possible with the stock panels. Thus, I bit the bullet and decided to butcher my panels. Notice also that in this pic, my doors are nearly fully raised and the psgr door has the panel ATTACHED. Thus, the shop was able to accomplish what I wanted them to!
Also, note in the original pics that the shop was able to keep the vent opening, albeit shifting it at an angle. I'm checking up on them tomorrow, so if I get some interesting pics, I'll post em. Everything should be done by this coming Mon/Tue.

What else is getting done? Are you just trying to make the lambo door go 90 degrees? Is a body kit on the way? I notice the factory side skirts have been removed? If so, which kit?

350Now, just the doors for now, with a stereo overhaul soon to follow. They removed the side skirts, so as to not cause any damage when they fiddle with the panels. I've been undecided about a bodykit for awhile now, so I figure if I have to think that much about it, I probably don't really want one (I think). Anyone got ideas on what bodykit (if any) may go well with this door mod??

srobert910, no fender modification necessary, although the hinge and gas shocks sit between the fender and the chassis. The hinge was welded on, as opposed to a bolt-on kit. The process was quoted to me to be 8 hours total, but ended up being 12 hours and some odd minutes start to finish. That's because my Z was the first one this shop had done a lambo door conversion on. Don't you love being the guinea pig for something like this? I know I do! ![](https://my350z.com/forum/images/smilies/icon14.gif)
I should mention that the lambo conversion was done at one shop and the panels are being worked on at another. I put the 2nd shop on "clean up duty," as it were.
KaiKai, this door kit is actually that of GT Factory in San Diego, CA. They do the install themselves, since it's a weld-on application. Their kit isn't really as readily available as Auto Loc's or Decah's.

is this a "true" lambo door kit or is it just for show like th decah kit?
what i mean by that is the decah kit opens like normal then swings up which is blah IMHO.
i like the kits that just swing up, does your custom door do this?
thanks,
victor

i say get a vertex kit...its arguably the cleanest kit...doesnt mess with any lines
and figure this...when your driving down the road ppl will look and say damn nice kit
then when you open the door they will be like DAAMN
so if you get a kit its 2 damns instead of one
"damns" cost about 2300 though![Smilie](https://my350z.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)

Mike Wazowski, yes and no. No, because the doors do open like stock, then swing up. However, on this kit, you can adjust the angle that the door opens to before lifting up. So technically, I can adjust the motion restrictor so that the doors only "pop" open, then lift up. This is my daily driver though, so I made it so that if I happen to end up in the ghetto part of town, I don't draw *too* much attention just by exiting/entering the car.
havabooz, yeah, I might need to save those "damns" for another day, when I 'm no longer poor from the this current mod. I'm gonna be dining on cartons of Top Ramen for a while...

Hey yoonakron,
I've got the carxs kit on my car. You're right about the door panels being extremely wide, thus the doors don't go up as high. We've already had this mod in mind (custom door panels), to get my doors to swing higher, and closer to the car.
When this is done, carxs is contemplating on offering the custom door panels as an option for their lambo kits.
Can't wait to see how yours looks!
Good luck!
