Default For those like me who removed the stock sub...

Did you use a saw to cut the frame out to have a nice little storage space. I believe that the metal around where the sub is belongs to the frame of the car. Voided warranty maybe?

Any ways before I take my tools to it and completely cut it into a square just looking for some advice/tips.

+1 DO NOT CUT. No need.

You have to take off the large trim piece that covers that area.

To get that off you have to pull up the strips next to the door sills, then pull the door seal up a bit along the vertical trailing edge of where the door closes, then pull the side trim pieces off that cover the rear fenders.

Remove the two screws that hold the rear of the center console in place.

Pop out the cigarette lighter

Start at one end and pop the trim piece out one fastener at a time. You may have to unbolt the glove box door catch. In the thin areas, pull very close to the fasteners so you dont break the plastic.

When you get to where the rear end of the center console lays over the bottom edge of the rear trim piece, just lift up on the rear of the center console so you can pull on the trim piece.

Once all the fasteners are loose, manuever it out of the car. Then you can unbolt the sub mounting plate.

I was able to unbolt the plate with all of the trim in place. I had to pop off a few of the trim clips, but it didn't require removing all of the pieces. Just use a 10mm open end wrench and get at the bolts from the side. after it is all unbolted, you will be able to slide it to one side and angle it out.

Ah, nice approach. Didn't think of using the open ended wrench. That would save alot of time.

I saw a thread once that where someone took an extra stock door and mechanism and installed it on the driver's side.

From the link below, looks like it doesnt come separate from that whole rear piece.

on this same thread, would you be able to put another sub in there? What size would fit, and would another sub produce a better sound even if its the same size?

Thansk for the tips I'll work with it, easily a 12 inch sub would fit in there with the metal plate removed.
