THe Int. Illum kit and the JDM Footwell lamp kit?
I tried searching for info on these but i can't find any, so here comes a new post...
I was wondering, after messing around on Courtesynissan, if anyone has gotten either the Interior Illumination kit, or the JDM foot well lamp kit.. I think the z would look nice if, when you opened the doors, the foot wells where lit or there was another light source besides the two overheads. Im not sure where the hook in on them is based on the diagram for install, or what it even looks like installed... SO if anyone has any pics or even a how too, that would be great, im still undecided as to if i should get them and if they are worth the 100+ bucks.. thanks

I have the interior illumination kit. It's installed, but not wired yet. I found someone to translate the directions, however, since the JDM ECU is different than the US version, this didn't really help. As soon as I get time, I am going to look at the wiring diagram and schematics in the Service Manual and figure out how to hook it up that way. As soon as I do, I'll post directions and pics.

oops, I didn't mean to say ECU. It doesn't have anything to do with the ECU. It gets wired to the main fuse panel and the BCM that controls the interior lights.

I just bought the JDM footwell lamps
That mount under the seats, and are wired into the console.
There is a switch wired into the circuit that appears to be intended to be mounted into the center glovebox. Nice made unit. However, the picture on Courtesy's site does not tell you what the F#$K to wire it to. It looks like something in the console, perhaps the ash tray light, but can't tell. Surely not the G force box! Does anyone know where to wire this?
And yes, I know that the under dash lights get wired to the fuse box, but the picture appears to show the footwell lights wired into the harness in the center console. See below.

i have both JDM light kits. installed them both myself. the BCM in the instructions is the JDM one, which is upside down, and on the other side of the car...
only the footwell lamps use the BCM.. the underseat lighting all gets power tapped from the harness right behind the gear shifter, next to the "ashtray."
i will get out my notes from the install if there is a need for them.

Yes, great I need this!!
I need to know which two wires behind the gearshift near the ashtray I tap into. I.E. which is the power wire to tap and which is the ground? Thank you so much for your help. Where did you mount the switch? In the console box or where the seat heater switches go?

There is also some confusion as to nomenclature
I think.
The kit that wires to the BCM and installs under the dash is called the Interior Illumination Kit, $74.91 at Courtesy Nissan.
The kit that wires into the console and mounts the lights under the seats is the JDM foot well lamp kit, $147.75 at Courtesy Nissan.
The Interior Illumination Kit has the Japanese instructions online at Courtesy. The JDM foot well lamp kit does not. It has the picture only that I posted above.
Just so we are talking about apples and apples, oranges and oranges.

This may sound incredibly crazy but why doesn't Courtesy Nissan provide detailed instructions in english with this? I know a lot of people, myself included, are car "illiterate" and need step by step instructions whenever doing something like this. This is something I want but I won't buy it unless I can follow the instructions or find someone near me who can install it.

Courtesy Nissan gave me this explaination
which makes sense from a legal standpoint.
"Again, the instructions are in Japanese, and for liability reasons, we cannot attempt to describe it to you in case any damages to the existing system or warranty occurs due to tampering with the electrical circuitry or mishandling of the product."
If they translated it, they would have to be quite sure that it was perfect - in this sue happy society, you have to make sure that you cover your *** at every turn.
Really can't blame them.

Only reason I can think of
is that it has a switch wired in the circuit.
Someone please ID which wires are tapped for power in the underseat kit.
Thank you.
Just ID the two wires to be tapped, the kit has a bare red with silver band and a black with silver band.
