Default Auto Day/Night Mirror Insufficient

One of the beefs I have with the Z, is the auto day/night mirror, which doesn't get dark enough to suit me. It's especially a problem during the day, when the Seattle safety-addicts pull up behind you with their lights on, and the mirror barely changes. Does anyone know of 1) a way to increase it's effectiveness, b) a replacement mirror that will get darker, or c) what is required to install a base-model mirror ?

I don't know how to fix it but I agree it doesn't work too well. I have tried covering up the sensor and I see no difference. Does it do anything at all?

This one falls solidly into the category of pole vaulting over a mouse turd.

If this is qualifies as an annoyance, then this car really is pretty amazing.

my stopped working and had to be replaced. its under warrenty but the cost for the part was over $500, pretty expensive for something that isn't very useful.

Yes, the car is pretty amazing, but there things I don't like, and one of them is having to tilt my rear-view mirror to where I can't even use it, because it has insufficient darkening. Given that the car has a lot of computer controls and there are tweaks that can be performed to work around the as-configured software (for example, disconnecting ther brakelight circuit to enable left-foot braking), it seemed like a reasonable question.

I also don't like: the understeer, the interior light comes on when you pull out the key, the AC defaults ON when you turn on the fan, the AC defaults to recirc when it comes on, the understeer, the 'pogo-ing rear end, the pedestrian 6600-rpm rev limit, and the understeer. But none of that gives me headaches.

If you ever visit the Seattle area, you'll discover what I'm talking about.

The Nismo rear spoiler make the damn thing even worst. The shadow of the spoiler lines up with the sensor and the thing doesn't dim when they are right behind you at a stop light.

I am quite sure I can cut into the circuit for the sensor and install a toggle switch that will turn it to full dark on command. It maynot be easy but I am sure I will eventualy do this mod. and will post the info.

I install this one for my base z, it turn green when someone is behind me at night and I could still see their car but their head lights are dark green. Works pretty good for me so far.
