Xpel Film
I called a local tinting/etc. shop and they suggested xpel film over 3M. Has anybody heard or used Xpel film for protecting their paint from road chips?
I went on to their website at XPEL FILM and noticed that their product is considerably more expensive than 3M. The shop holder I spoke to mentioned something about a longer and more extended warranty with XPEL than 3M, but I couldn't find that on the internet site.
Please post you knowledge, experiences, or even so much as hearsay here. Would like to know everything I can about their differences and similarities before I buy... and I think so would others.

X-Pel Protection Products
4 Year Limited Warranty $1,000 Protection Guarantee
Reflex Enterprises, the fabricator, warrants X-Pel Protection Products installed on the factory paint finish or on the factory installed lenses (utilizing bulbs with factory recommended wattage) of the purchaser's vehicle for four (4) years from date of purchase. Reflex Enterprises warrants your X-Pel product against yellowing, cracking or peeling due to discernible defects in manufacturing of said product. If the X-Pel product is found to be defective, Reflex Enterprises will replace the product at no charge to the purchaser (installation labor excepted). This warranty is valid for the original purchaser of the X-Pel product and is not transferable. Reflex Enterprises assumes no liability for deterioration of the film caused by normal wear, accident, collision, negligence, vandalism or abuse. THIS WARRANTY APPLIES TO MANUFACTURING QUALITY ONLY. The installer is solely responsible for the quality of installation of the X-Pel product installed on the vehicle. Contractors, including the installer, do not have the authority or power to alter or extend the limited warranty set forth in this certificate. The installer is neither an employee nor an agent of Reflex Enterprises. Reflex Enterprises does not warrant installation methods, or any installer action. To initiate warranty service, send this warranty form along with the defective X-Pel product for our inspection to:
Reflex Enterprises Warranty Claims Department, P. O. Box 6191, San Antonio, Texas 78209
Upon inspection and determination that the purchaser's claim on the defective X-Pel product falls within the scope of this warranty, Reflex Enterprises will send purchaser a replacement product free of any charge. Neither Reflex Enterprises, as fabricator, nor the installer shall be liable or responsible for the loss or damage, direct, incidental, or consequential, other than as set forth above, arising from the sale, installation, use or inability to use the film. THERE IS NO WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY AND NO WARRANTY THAT THE PRODUCT SHALL BE FIT FOR ANY PARTICULAR PURPOSE OR USE. THIS WARRANTY GIVES THE PURCHASER SPECIFIC LEGAL RIGHTS, AND THE PURCHASER MAY ALSO HAVE OTHER RIGHTS, WHICH VARY FROM JURISDICTION TO JURISDICTION. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitations of incidental or consequential damages or the limitation on how long an implied warranty lasts. Reflex Enterprises guarantees the purchaser of any X-Pel Headlight Protection Product that when such product is properly applied to the vehicle's OEM lenses, it will prevent road debris from breaking or cracking any such protected lens. Should a protected lens become broken or cracked by the event of road debris passing through a properly installed X-Pel Headlight Protection Product, Reflex Enterprises will refund to the original purchaser of the X-Pel Light Protection Product, up to $1,000 U.S. toward the purchaser's insurance deductible for replacement of the damaged lens. This warranty does not cover damage to an unprotected part or portion of the lens. It also does not cover intentional impacts, impacts from objects other than normal road debris, abuse, vandalism, misuse, fire, collisions, accidents, acts of God, defects in the manufacture of the lens or damage to the product from harsh chemicals. Installation of non-OEM bulbs invalidates this guarantee. This Protection Guarantee is valid only if:
At the time of the impact damage, the product was properly in place.
The vehicle was insured for coverage against damage from any such impact.
The insurance company has been notified (written proof required).
No more than thirty (30) days after the impact occurred, you mail Reflex Enterprises clear copies of the following documents:
Proof of purchase.
Copy of claim sent to insurance company.
Insurance coverage documents for the vehicle, clearly showing all details, including the vehicle identification number and the insurance deductible amount.
A dated declaration, signed by the purchaser, the original owner of the X-Pel product, attesting that the vehicle has been damaged in accordance with the terms stated above.
The damaged light, with the protective film still applied to it.
This Protection Guarantee is effective for four (4) years from the date of purchase and is limited to one claim. Once Reflex Enterprises verifies that all of the above listed terms and conditions have been properly met, a check for the insurance deductible (up to $1,000 U.S.) will be mailed to the original purchaser within thirty (30) days. Registering is not necessary.
I have it, and am very pleased. I did a good bit of research and chose X-Pel. You're right about the cost - I paid quite a bit more for my clear bra than others I've seen post here. I think above all, you need to find a good installer. In my opinion, which product you choose isn't nearly as important as who puts it on.
I happen to live in San Antonio where the company is located, so the guy who installed mine is their trainer. I got lucky - he knows what he is doing, and on top of that he's a perfectionist. Hope you run into some good luck, too!

Don't think I was clear on this in my last post: X-Pel uses 3M products, and manufactures their own software/templates for their cuts. They use a different brand of film on the headlights.
