Default getting tints w/ grease streak

hey guys, i'm thinking of getting tints...

my driver's side has the grease streak problem...which will never go away lol...

i searched but the threads I found were from 2003, so I'm looking for someone who's had tints w/ the grease streaks going on for a few years...

does it affect the tint besides the streak? is it still easy to wipe away? I just hope it won't cause the bottom of the tint to start peeling/curling...

looking at either 23% or 28%...35 is too light...but 28% seems to be the magic number..but hard to find an established shop with it...

take off your door panel and there is a piece by your window motor that collects stuff you just have to clean that off

yep, it's a little wiper type thing on the window rails.

It doesn't hurt the window at all. Comes off with regular glass cleaner when you get streaks.

I feel you on the "annoy the chit outta me" comment. BUT, and a very big BUT, i never had grease streaks until the idiots at Mission Hills Nissan replaced my window motors. F****** Ba******. I would never take my car back their again. I was thinking about getting a tint as well but worried about this garbage

Yeah, I have given up taking the car back to Nissan for the grease streak issue... I have done it twice and finally decided it was a small enough annoyance to just live with.

Similar to the fact that the interior black paint scratches off it you look at it funny.

hmm, is it safe to do fix the window grease myself? iw as reading up on it here and a few years ago, people were saying they had more issues after the fact...like window not aligned properly, more noise...lol

is that piece that collecst stuff useful? can't it just be removed?

my alarm installer is running wires into the door for the lock/unlock feature, I'm guessing he has to take off the door panel, at this point I"m gonna try to go there and clean it up while it's off haha they're also installing the tints for me..if I still choose to...not sure yet...

there's nothing hard about fixing it. there is a little wiper arm inside the door. spray it with parts cleaner and the grease will come off. It will probably take a few cleanings to get it all off. My passenger window doesn't do it but my driver side still needs more cleaning i guess.

update:

ok so I got my windows tinted a nice 23% all around, i was told not to roll down the windows for 3-5 days, so i'm waiting it out...

anyway, while they were tinting the windo, they took off the door panels since they tint well below the line so that there isn't any peeling at the bottom...

when i looked down i saw the felt that is causing the grease streak...how do I take it out or clean it? simply use compressed air and spray? because in order for me to actually get to it to take it out I would have to remove the metal panel as well...i don't want to mess up my windows lol...

can anyone post a link for the DIY on this? sorry, I searched on here and looked through the "TSB & recalls" section but it doesn't actually show how to fix/replace it, just tells what the TSB was lol...

searched under Maintenance & repair, interior/exterior, both tech and DIY sections...I"m assuming there is one but my searching skills must suck some serious a$$...

ok Mike at blackline already addressed the issue, I was using the word "tint" as a noun, thus I put "tintS" as my car has 5 windows where it would be getting tinted, so I would be purchasing a "tint(noun)" per window, but now I know better, I don't use the word "tint" with an S anymore

not sure why other people put an S on the end, but that's my reasoning.

thanks for the very useful post
